Hi! I'm Renan Peixoto, Head of Engineering at Torre. We seek a Product-Minded Algorithm Engineer to help us build the best and most accurate job-matching model.
WHAT IS TORRE?
At Torre, we're building AI recruiters who replicate human intuition. They automatically attract candidates, engage them, screen them, rank them, present them, and provide them with feedback. We analyze 100+ factors with nine types of AI to match candidates with companies, teams, and leaders. The result: we make recruiting faster, more accurate, less discriminatory, and significantly less expensive. Our end goal is to build THE matching network for work.
We offer three product lines for companies: Torre OS, Torre Reach, and Torre RPO. You'd directly impact the first two.
Our motto is to make work fulfilling for everyone.
Our seed round was $20M, of which Alex Torrenegra, our founder and CEO, contributed $10M. Other investors included early investors and executives from Apple, Amazon, Meta, Space X, and TikTok.

Once we meet, I'll share more information with you.
WHY THE OPENING?
We've already created one of the most sophisticated job-matching models to suggest and rank candidates. Our algorithm evaluates and assigns scores to every candidate and job listing in our database [
LEARN MORE]. Now, we need a highly technical yet product-focused Algorithm Engineer to help us improve and build upon it. You will focus on developing and refining our platform, optimizing performance, and enhancing our data models to meet current and future demands and strategies.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KPIS:
• Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and product teams to define and implement algorithmic solutions that enhance product features.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable algorithms to improve candidate-job matching and recommendation systems.
• Continuously optimize the performance of existing systems, ensuring low-latency responses and efficient resource usage.
• Research and propose new machine-learning techniques and data-driven approaches to refine algorithmic accuracy and relevance.
• Monitor and debug algorithms in production, ensuring robustness, scalability, and reliability across all use cases.
• Ensure the algorithms are adaptable to new user patterns, market shifts, and business goals, proactively anticipating future needs.
• Mentor and guide the team in best practices for algorithm design, model evaluation, and software engineering excellence.
• Learn, grow, and intentionally expand your skills and reach.
You'll share the KPIs of the product development team:
• Candidate-job matching accuracy
• NPS (Net Promoter Score)
• Net Revenue Retention Rate
• Number of applications
• Number of hires
• On-time delivery
• DORA metrics
• Product performance
• Product quality (Number of bugs)
• Uptime

YOUR POTENTIAL CAREER PATH:
We expect you to commit to at least two years in this position. The experience you earn will enable you to grow into other roles, such as Tech Leadership, Staff+, or Data Engineering — at Torre or elsewhere.
THE TEAM:
You'll report directly to one of our tech leads or me. Nevertheless, you will work with many team members from different teams across the company.
TOOLS AT YOUR DISPOSAL:

• Our proprietary algorithms, models, data, and their documentation.
• Monitoring and logging tools to track product performance and uptime.
• Access to user feedback to monitor user behavior, needs, and NPS.
• Version control and collaboration tools.
• CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment.
• The help of the whole product development and analytics team.
OUR WORK CULTURE:
Most members of our senior team have been entrepreneurs. As such, you'll be surrounded by a group of passionate, hard-working, smart-working, tell-it-like-it-s, no-drama professionals. You can learn more about my expectations of you as my colleague & co-worker:
Types of people whom I don’t enjoy working with (and why I avoid partnering with them).
We apply the scientific method to almost everything we do: ideate, hypothesize, experiment, analysis, repeat. We use this framework for product and marketing experiments (and even sales experiments):
Experimento: A practical product management framework.
We are remote and agile. Among others, we do daily standup meetings dense with information:
Estandap: highly efficient daily meetings for agile and remote teams.
We're data-driven. For example, here's how we determine our top client acquisition channels:
Canales: A framework for identifying all client acquisition channels (and how Google Analytics sucks at it).
HIRING PROCESS:
1st. You'll apply via Torre.
2nd. I'll review your application. If you're a potential match, I'll contact you to answer any questions you may have.
3rd. We'll do a first interview.
4th. You'll complete one or more tests, during which you'll interact with our team to learn about your engineering and product development skills.
5th. I'll make you an offer.
