ROLE OVERVIEW We are looking for a Data Engineer based in Latin America to build and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and the US-based engineering team to ensure clean, reliable, and accessible data. The ideal candidate is a native or near-native English speaker with strong analytical skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes. • Manage and optimise data storage solutions including data warehouses and lakes. • Collaborate with US-based data scientists and analysts to ensure data quality. • Monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot data quality issues. • Communicate technical progress and blockers clearly with the team in English. REQUIREMENTS English Communication • Native or near-native English is a firm, non-negotiable requirement. • Ideal candidates grew up, studied, or worked extensively in English-speaking environments (US, UK, Canada, Australia). • Must communicate fluently and naturally with a US-based team on a daily basis. • Heritage speakers and US-educated professionals returning to LATAM are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience • Minimum 2-4 years of professional software development experience, OR • Strong CS graduates - especially those who studied at US universities and are now based in LATAM. • A portfolio, GitHub profile, or strong project samples can supplement formal experience. Work Style • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, asynchronous environment. • Reliable internet connection and a quiet home workspace. • Results-driven - we measure output and quality, not hours logged. • Fast learner who adapts quickly to new tools, stacks, and priorities. • Comfortable collaborating daily with a US-based engineering team across time zones. Technical Skills • Strong experience with Python and SQL for data processing and querying. • Hands-on experience with pipeline tools - Apache Spark, Airflow, or Kafka. • Experience with data warehousing solutions - Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar. • Familiarity with dbt for data transformation. • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for data infrastructure.
