Overview.
We are hiring a candidate with strong clinical experience to serve as a bilingual medical virtual assistant supporting a U.S. rheumatology practice. This role is primarily focused on medical billing (70%), with the remaining time dedicated to appointment scheduling and balance collection. The position requires strong clinical judgment, clear communication, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinic environment without constant supervision.

Key responsibilities.
Medical billing (primary):
* Support the billing workflow, including claim preparation, basic coding support, payment posting, and claim status checks.
* Assist in correcting and resubmitting denied or rejected claims with guidance from the main biller.
* Perform insurance verification and eligibility checks related to billing needs.
* Provide reliable billing coverage during the main biller’s PTO by following established processes.
* Maintain accurate documentation in alignment with HIPAA and BAA standards.
Administrative and front office support (as needed):
* Handle inbound and outbound calls in English and Spanish.
* Support appointment scheduling, confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling.
* Assist with prior authorization coordination and insurance-related follow-ups.
* Manage patient messages, email handling, routing, and follow-up tasks.
* Collaborate with office staff and other virtual assistants to keep workflows organized.
Required qualifications:
* Strong clinical background.
* Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Spanish.
* Experience working in a clinical setting and coordinating patient care workflows.
* Experience supporting medical billing processes, including claims, denials, eligibility, payment posting, and follow-ups.
* Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment.
* Comfort working remotely with stable internet, a professional workspace, and HIPAA readiness.
Preferred qualifications:
* Experience in a specialty clinic, with rheumatology as a plus.
* Experience with U.S. insurance workflows and prior authorizations.
* Familiarity with EMR or EHR systems and strong documentation practices, including NexTech EMR.
* Experience using Microsoft Teams for communication and RingCentral as a dialer.
* Ability to break down tasks into clear steps and improve workflows over time.
