We are looking for an experienced Irrigation Designer to join Waterpro's design team. You will collaborate closely with the Design Manager and internal team to produce professional irrigation designs for a wide range of project types.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop irrigation systems for a range of sites including open spaces, sports fields, golf courses, commercial landscapes, and community facilities.Prepare detailed irrigation layouts, plans, and technical drawings using relevant design software (AutoCAD or equivalent).Select appropriate irrigation products and components such as sprinklers, valves, pumps, and controllers from Waterpro's preferred product lines.Calculate water requirements, system pressure, flow rates, and zoning to ensure optimal performance and water efficiency.Required Skills & Experience:Technical Design ExpertiseDemonstrated experience in irrigation system design for commercial, municipal, or institutional projects (not solely residential).Proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD software) for producing scaled, detailed irrigation plans and technical drawings.Strong understanding of hydraulic principles including pressure loss calculations, pipe sizing, flow rate analysis, and system zoning.Ability to calculate precipitation rates, matched precipitation, and water requirements for different turf types and planted zones.Knowledge of sprinkler selection, spacing geometry (triangular and square patterns), and distribution uniformity principles.Familiarity with irrigation product types including rotors, spray heads, drip systems, solenoid valves, controllers, backflow prevention devices, and pump systems.Software & ToolsAutoCADProficiency with irrigation manufacturer specification sheets and product cataloguesExperience with irrigation-specific design tools (e.g., RainCAD, HydroCAD, or manufacturer design software)Communication & CollaborationAbility to interpret a design brief, ask clarifying questions, and work through revisions based on manager feedback.Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple jobs and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.Preferred QualificationsDegree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related technical discipline.Previous experience working remotely for Australian, US, or Middle Eastern companies on irrigation or landscape projects.Understanding of Australian water regulations, backflow prevention standards, or willingness to learn these on the job.Familiarity with Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, or Netafim product ranges.Experience producing material/component schedules and bills of quantities.Apply now!
