You’ll work with our Java Spring Boot backend to deliver reliable, scalable systems that empower dental professionals to focus on patient care.We are looking for a passionate Staff Backend Software Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll lead the architecture of our backend ecosystem and drive the delivery of our most complex product milestones, with direct impact on the success of our product and users.Job ResponsibilitiesLead the design of distributed systems and data models, ensuring our Java Spring Boot environment can support rapid scaling and feature expansion.Take full accountability for the end-to-end delivery of major cross-functional product updates, managing the release lifecycle and ensuring high-impact features are deployed reliably while maintaining peak performance in production.Proactively leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude) to complement your workflow and increase velocity—using sophisticated prompting to accelerate boilerplate and execution while remaining the “architect,” retaining total ownership over the logic, security, and architectural implications of the code.Collaborate with product teams to integrate and improve AI capabilities within the Archy platform, helping roll out updates that simplify dental practice workflows.Architect and oversee seamless integration between our Java Spring Boot backend and React/TypeScript frontend to ensure high performance and system reliability.Participate in and lead code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to help the team continuously improve.Identify opportunities for improving team efficiency and implement those improvements.Estimate and plan development efforts for projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.10+ years of experience as a backend engineer, with a strong emphasis on writing clean, quality code.Experience with Java Spring Boot or similar frameworks.Experience owning the successful release of high-traffic features or major platform migrations.Deep understanding of how to use AI tools as a co-pilot without sacrificing code quality or deep-thinking problem-solving.Deep focus on testing, stability, and performance to ensure the platform remains rock-solid for users.Customer-centric mindset: understanding dental practices rely on Archy to keep their businesses running smoothly.Strong collaboration and communication skills, with openness to feedback and respect for diverse voices and talents on the team.What We OfferCompetitive salary and equity (some roles may be eligible for performance-based incentives or bonuses)Health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) planFlexible vacation policyRemote-friendly culture
