ABOUT BLACKSMITH AGENCYBlacksmith Agency (BSA) is a fully remote WordPress design and development agency of ~40 people headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. We build high-performance websites for growth-focused companies across the US. We're not a typical agency. We run a sales engine, a production system and a growing AI automation layer that we're building into every part of how we work.This role is a direct investment in that automation layer.THE ROLEWe're hiring an AI Engineer to own and ship our internal automation roadmap. This is a builder role, not a research role. You will not be training models. You will be building production systems on top of them.You'll work directly with our engineering and delivery leadership to take a well-documented roadmap of automation workflows (AI-assisted WordPress development, content generation, agentic pipelines) and turn them into shipped, working systems.This role is for someone who has already built things with LLMs and can show it.WHAT YOU'LL BUILDAgentic workflows using LangChain, LangGraph or equivalent frameworksIntegrations with Anthropic and OpenAI APIs including tool use and function callingInternal tools that reduce manual hours across our design and development production processAutomation pipelines that connect WordPress, Figma, Google Workspace and our internal CMS/component libraryMCP (Model Context Protocol) server integrations as part of our broader AI stackWHAT WE NEEDRequired:2+ years building production software with Python or Node.jsHands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen or similar agent frameworksProven API integration work with OpenAI or Anthropic (function calling, tool use, streaming)Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and basic cloud deploymentSolid version control habitsEnglish proficiency sufficient for async written communication with a US-based teamStrong bonus:WordPress or PHP experienceFamiliarity with Figma APIs or design toolingGoogle Apps Script or Workspace automation experienceBackground in web production, digital agencies or similar environmentsExperience with n8n, Make or similar workflow automation platformsWHAT WE DON'T NEEDA degree from a specific schoolExperience at a well-known tech companyA polished resume full of buzzwordsWe care about what you've built and whether it works.HOW WE WORKFully remote, async-firstPhoenix, AZ timezone preferred but not required (MST, UTC-7)Contract engagement to start, with conversion path based on performanceDirect access to leadership, no bureaucracy, fast feedback loopsHOW TO APPLYSend a short message and 2 to 3 examples of AI or automation systems you've built.
