Job DescriptionThe Senior Technical Writer I is responsible for maintaining and developing user manuals and technical guides. They are expected to make decisions on how to best develop our documentation, while also coaching newer team members. The overall accuracy of written technical content largely falls under the Senior Technical Writer’s responsibilities. This is a full-time position with remote opportunities available.ResponsibilitiesCreating clear and concise original technical content; frequently taking highly abstract concepts and grounding them in relatable languageReviewing content changes submitted by the writing team, as well as external authors, with an emphasis on technical accuracy, leaning on subject matter experts as neededOverseeing the writing team’s ticketing workflow, ensuring product changes are properly reviewed and follow up tasks are createdTaking lead roles on projects of moderate complexityIndependently balancing writing team tasks with cross-divisional initiativesOverseeing content organization, advising other writers on strategies and approaches for document presentationCollecting audience feedback on our documentation to update existing content and develop new content ideasCoaching new team members on writing best practicesManaging and administering written content delivery platforms, such as version control systemsWorking with management to develop and enforce department policies and standardsPerforming any other duties as assigned by documentation leadershipMust complete Ignition Core Certification within a month of hire; preferably able to pass Gold Certification within six months of hireRequirementsBachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English with a technical writing emphasis, or Computer Science degree/equivalent certificate highly preferred4+ years of experience in a technical writer positionExperience with written content editing software: Word, Confluence, Framemaker, etcExperience with Markdown, or similar markup languagesFamiliarity with a coding language (Python, Java, C++, etc.)Familiarity with GitFamiliarity with CSSPositive interpersonal communication skillsWho are we?Champions for industrial automation innovation and driven by a mission statement to empower our customers to swiftly turn great ideas into reality by removing all technological and economic obstacles, we create and deliver solutions that relieve pain points, bring efficiency to operations and optimize integration.Why Choose Inductive Automation?Our passion goes beyond customers.
