This position emphasizes behavioral change, driver development, and driver retention, while maintaining strict safety standards. Administrative and compliance-related tasks are part of the role but are supported through internal systems and training. The core focus of the position is working directly with drivers to improve safety behavior and reduce incidents. Key Responsibilities Driver Safety & Coaching Communicate with drivers primarily via phone and internal communication platforms to ensure timely and documented safety interactions. Proactively identify unsafe driver behaviors using camera systems, safety reports, and operational data. Conduct structured coaching conversations to correct unsafe habits and reinforce safe driving practices. Clearly explain safety risks, consequences, and best practices to influence behavioral change. Build professional, trust-based relationships with drivers while maintaining firm safety expectations. Enforce safety standards consistently when coaching does not lead to improvement. Support driver retention by focusing on improvement and development rather than punitive action. Take ownership of safety outcomes across assigned drivers, including incident reduction and behavioral improvement. Safety Monitoring & Analysis Review safety events from AI safety camera systems (Netradyne / Samsara). Analyze driver safety reports and performance metrics. Investigate incidents and identify root causes. Track safety performance trends and recommend improvements. DOT & FMCSA Compliance Maintain compliance with FMCSA safety regulations. Monitor driver qualification and safety records. Support driver drug & alcohol program compliance. Maintain documentation related to driver safety and incidents. Monitor CSA scores and safety metrics. Safety Process Improvement Help develop structured safety procedures and coaching frameworks. Improve documentation of safety incidents, coaching actions, and corrective steps. Work with operations to improve safety systems and workflows. Contribute to continuous safety improvement across the fleet. Required Qualifications Professional & Technical Skills Experience working with telematics and camera-based safety systems such as Samsara or Netradyne. Confident communication with drivers via phone and internal communication platforms. Ability to review and interpret safety data, video events, incident reports, and driver metrics. Experience documenting coaching conversations, incidents, and corrective actions in structured formats (spreadsheets, shared documents, or internal systems). Basic computer proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office. Experience & Competencies 3–5 years of experience in safety management, driver coaching, or operational mentoring within transportation or logistics. Proven ability to change driver behavior through communication, education, and accountability. Experience conducting difficult safety conversations while maintaining professionalism and control. Practical understanding of driver operations and real on-road conditions. Strong judgment and consistency when enforcing safety standards. Strong stress-management skills with the ability to remain calm during incidents. Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple safety cases simultaneously. Strong critical thinking skills when assessing safety risks and determining corrective actions. Ability to balance safety enforcement with driver retention. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AI safety camera systems (Netradyne, Samsara, or similar). Experience working with remote operations teams. Experience creating structured safety procedures or SOPs. Experience supervising or mentoring safety personnel. Bilingual candidates (English + Ukrainian or Russian) are strongly preferred, as part of our operations team communicates in these languages. Work Schedule: Availability required between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Chicago / CDT) for driver communication and operational coordination.
