Backend & AI Agent Architect (Orchestration Specialist) About the Role At Singular, we are looking for a Backend & AI Agent Architect (Orchestration Specialist) who can go beyond traditional backend development and help us build the next generation of AI-powered autonomous systems. In this role, you will focus on designing agentic workflows, orchestration logic, decision-making graphs, toolsets, and validation layers that allow AI agents to execute complex tasks reliably and safely. Rather than spending your time writing repetitive code, your main value will be in architecting the systems that enable AI to operate at scale. Key Responsibilities * Design and implement complex agentic workflows, including stateful decision-making graphs (DAGs and cyclic graphs). * Architect multi-agent orchestration systems, including task delegation, coordination, and conflict resolution. * Build and secure APIs and sandboxed environments that AI agents use to interact with databases and external services. * Implement strong guardrails and supervision layers to monitor, validate, and audit AI-generated actions. * Develop advanced RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines and persistent memory structures for long-context agents. * Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable solutions. * Ensure high standards of maintainability, scalability, performance, and system reliability. Required Soft Skills * Strong ownership mindset and proactive attitude. * Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). * Strong attention to detail and organization. * Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. * Teamwork and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. * Continuous improvement mindset and adaptability. Technical Requirements Backend Development: * Advanced proficiency in Python. * Strong experience with TypeScript, ideally using NestJS. Agentic Frameworks (Critical) Professional experience with: * LangGraph * LlamaIndex AI Operations * Experience orchestrating LLMs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models (vLLM). * Strong understanding of agentic reasoning approaches such as ReAct and Chain-of-Thought prompting. Vector Databases Experience with vector infrastructure such as: * Pinecone * Weaviate * pgvector Infrastructure * Experience with containerization using Docker (Kubernetes is a plus). Nice to Have (Plus Factors) * Experience with CrewAI, Autogen, or Semantic Kernel. * Familiarity with observability tools like LangSmith, Arize Phoenix, or Weights & Biases. * Experience designing secure environments for autonomous agent execution. Ideal Candidate Profile We are looking for someone with an architect mindset who treats AI as a junior developer that requires clear guidance, strict boundaries, and strong supervision systems. The ideal candidate speaks in terms of: * Control loops * State management * Evaluation frameworks * Agent orchestration patterns * Reliability and safety systems
