We are Kubikware™, a digital agency with 20+ years of experience designing and developing web and mobile platforms, as well as video games, AR/VR apps, and AI-powered solutions. Headquartered in Miami, FL, with a strong South American team, we partner with US-based clients across multiple industries. Kubikware is a 5-time Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies in America honoree. We are looking to expand our roster with a Senior Backend Engineer to join a client-facing team through a staff augmentation engagement. This is a full-time, fully remote position starting with a 2–3 month contract, with potential for longer-term collaboration depending on project needs. This role requires deep expertise in Wagtail CMS architecture and strong hands-on experience managing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly responsive, and capable of owning both backend architecture and DevOps improvements end-to-end. What you’ll do - Own the architecture and evolution of a complex, multi-site Wagtail CMS implementation. - Customize and extend Wagtail internals, including: - Admin customization. - Render logic modifications. - Custom Blocks and templates development. - Design and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Django. - Act as the DevOps lead for the project’s Google Cloud infrastructure. - Manage and optimize CI/CD workflows and deployment pipelines. - Improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability. - Collaborate closely with product and engineering stakeholders as a strong technical partner. - Proactively identify areas of improvement and implement best practices across backend and infrastructure. We are looking for - 6+ years of professional experience in backend development. - Strong expertise in Python and Django. - Deep hands-on experience with Wagtail CMS, including advanced customization and architectural ownership. - Proven experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in production environments. - Strong knowledge of: - Cloud Build. - Cloud SQL. - Cloud Storage. - Secrets Manager. - Experience designing and improving CI/CD pipelines. - Solid understanding of backend performance, security, and scalability principles. - Ability to take ownership of complex systems and work autonomously. - Strong English communication skills.
