You’ll play a key role in developing the next generation of Mashgin kiosks, working from concept to mass production in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.This is a hybrid role that requires you to be onsite at least 2 days a week in San Jose, CA.You Will BeOwning the mechanical design of major kiosk subsystems and components from concept to productionDeveloping innovative, manufacturable designs for sheet metal, injection-molded plastics, CNC-machined parts, and electromechanical assembliesCreating and managing BOMs (Bill of Materials), engineering documentation, and 2D manufacturing drawings with proper GD&T and revision controlCollaborating closely with electrical, thermal, and software engineering teams to integrate multi-disciplinary requirementsBuilding and iterating on 3D CAD models, tolerance analyses, and detailed drawings using SolidWorksDriving prototype builds, DFM/DFX reviews, and design validation testing with internal teams and external suppliersWorking directly with domestic and international manufacturing partners to resolve production issues and improve yieldsContributing to reliability, thermal, EMI/ESD compliance, and safety testing for high-volume deploymentsSupporting product lifecycle activities, including cost reduction, design revisions, and next-gen architecture explorationTraveling internationally on occasion (~10%) to support suppliers, manufacturing builds, and validation testingMinimum QualificationsBS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field3+ years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in consumer electronics, kiosks, medical devices, or other high-volume hardware productsProficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD) with strong GD&T and tolerance stack-up skillsHands-on experience with prototype fabrication, DFM, and mass production processesFamiliarity with plastics, sheet metal, die casting, CNC machining, and adhesive joining techniquesStrong understanding of thermal management, structural integrity, and reliability testingExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with high-volume contract manufacturers and overseas suppliersKnowledge of electro-mechanical integration (displays, cameras, sensors, connectors, cables, etc.)Exposure to regulatory compliance (EMI/ESD, UL, CE, FCC)Experience working with computer vision systems or kiosk-style hardware is a plusMandarin Chinese proficiency is a plus for communicating with some manufacturing partnersWillingness to travel internationally (~10%) as needed for supplier engagement and production supportWhat We OfferAn opportunity to work on a small, multidisciplinary team with the potential to break new ground in many different industriesExcellent health, dental and vision insurance for you and your dependents401k planFlexible PTO policyCatered lunch in office with fully stocked snacks and beveragesPet insurance for your fur babiesVoluntary life insurance planCompetitive salary and options in a small, rapidly scaling companySalary RangeSalary: $150,000 - $170,000 per yearFor roles based in San Jose, CA, the overall market range for Mashgin is typically 150,000 - 170,000 USD annually.
