Key Responsibilities:Follow all applicable SDL engineering processesDesign complex, highly available information systems and support their implementationProvide clear, detailed guidance on selecting and implementing efficient solutions to meet business needs, including future capacity; facility requirements (floor layout, power, cooling, and pathways); network connectivity; data storage; backup; and monitoringGather and synthesize system requirements from internal and external customers, defining operational needs including integration with other systems or componentsWork with cross-functional teams to convert requirements into complete, workable system solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints, while evaluating and recommending viable alternativesServe as a multidisciplinary engineer and subject matter expert for network, compute, storage, directory services, hypervisors, and cloud systemsDemonstrate a strong understanding of physical network infrastructure, including copper and fiber systemsAssist in enhancing existing engineering processesServe as a peer reviewer for complex information system designsDevelop and maintain engineering documentation for assigned systems and solutionsEvaluate vendor capabilities and proposals to ensure they meet required products or servicesConduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standardsProvide technical expertise on projects and proposal effortsProvide expertise in defining and implementing best practices to meet or exceed mission needsExpected Outputs:System designs and diagramsRack elevationsData/power interconnect documentationNetwork architecturesFacility requirements (floor plan, power, cooling, etc.)System cost estimatesTrade and alternative studiesWork breakdown structuresCustomer responsibility matricesRisk analysis matrices and risk management plansMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related engineering or science discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD and 4+ years of relevant experienceMust be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security ClearanceValid CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) required, or must be obtained within 30 days of hireExperience architecting, designing, and engineering information systems (candidate will be asked to discuss these experiences)Working knowledge of networking, systems, cybersecurity, and/or cloud technologiesDemonstrated expertise in networking and/or cloud infrastructures, including relevant certificationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to perform engineering trade-offs between customer requirements, schedule deadlines, program funding, and engineering best practicesAbility to work effectively in a team environment on collaborative efforts with internal and external team membersCompetency in managing budgets and schedulesWillingness and ability to travel (not typically required)Preferred QualificationsExperience with diagramming tools and MBSE methodologiesTS/SCI with polygraph (please disclose any current clearance when applying, as all are beneficial)Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projectsDemonstrated ability to solve large and complex issuesSalary Range$115,000- $129,000This range serves as a general guideline and may vary based on factors such as role, level, location, market conditions, and individual qualifications, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The range displayed in the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries across all US locations.
