Requirements and responsibilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer on our CoCounsel for Government team, you will architect and maintain robust AWS environments, implement secure CI/CD pipelines, and ensure compliance with stringent government regulations. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about both the "dev" and the "ops" sides of DevOps. What You Will Do: - Architect & Implement: - Design and manage AWS infrastructure (with an emphasis on CloudFormation), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and automated deployment pipelines. - Ensure high availability, scalability, and observability across all environments. - Secure & Compliant: - Integrate security best practices and government compliance (FedRAMP, FIPS) into the DevOps lifecycle. - Collaborate with InfoSec teams to proactively address vulnerabilities and maintain hardened systems. - Python Proficiency: - Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling in Python, with an emphasis on production-grade code and performance. - Advocate for code quality, documentation, and type safety where applicable. - Continuous Improvement: - Optimize CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging systems to improve developer productivity and reduce downtime. - Mentor junior engineers on DevOps methodologies, offering code reviews and technical guidance. About You: - Experience: - 4+ years in DevOps, site reliability engineering, or a related role, focusing on AWS and container-based architectures. - Proven track record designing and supporting production environments with a high degree of automation. - Technical Proficiency: - Deep understanding of AWS (EC2, ECS/EKS, CloudFormation), Docker, and Kubernetes. - Strong background in Python for writing infrastructure tooling or backend services, with a preference for well-structured, type-informed code. - Security & Compliance Awareness: - Comfortable implementing compliance requirements and secure coding practices, particularly in government-regulated environments. - Collaboration: - Adept at working cross-functionally, from product managers to security teams, communicating effectively about infrastructure and deployment strategies. Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). - Experience automating compliance checks or vulnerability scanning. - AWS GovCloud experience.
