Platform Engineer (AI-Native) - Avante AI.
Location: Remote, within Costa Rica.

About Us:
- Avante AI builds software that automates the hard, slow work of investment diligence, turning piles of documents and data into clear, structured analysis that helps investors make better decisions, faster.
- We are small, fast-moving, and AI-native: we build with AI coding agents every day, and we are looking for our next engineer to grow with us from the ground floor.
- This is a rare seat. You would be one of the first engineers, working directly with the founder, with real ownership over how the product runs and gets built.

- We build with AI coding agents, and your job is to direct the agent and apply judgment, not write every line by hand.
- Knowing when the AI is wrong and steering it matters more here than raw typing speed.

What You Will Do:
- You will start by keeping our platform healthy and reliable, then grow into building new features.
- Keep the platform running smoothly: monitor the system, catch problems early, and fix them before users notice.
- Fix bugs end-to-end: find the root cause, ship the fix with tests, confirm it works in production, and follow up.
- Verify everything we ship actually works: for real users, in the real product, not just "it passed the tests."
- Grow into building features: within a few months you will own new features start to finish: design, build, test, and document.
- Become a second person who can keep the whole system alive, so the company is not dependent on any one person.
First 90 Days:
- Month 1: Learn the codebase, run our daily health checks, and ship your first handful of bug fixes with tests.
- Month 2: Own the reliability of the platform: monitoring, testing, and fixing, and start shipping small features on your own.
- Month 3: Own a feature from idea to launch, and be someone who can confidently keep the platform running on your own.
What We Are Looking For (Must-Have):
- Strong Python: you have built and shipped real things with it.
- Comfortable with SQL / PostgreSQL databases.
- Solid JavaScript / HTML / CSS (we keep the frontend simple: no heavy frameworks).
- Confident with Git and a normal ship-to-production workflow.
- Professional English: our docs, tools, and team communication are in English.
- You learn fast and work independently: you do not need someone watching over your shoulder.
- Comfortable working with AI coding tools, or a clear track record of picking up new tools fast.
- Detail-oriented: you treat "the tests pass" and "it actually works for users" as two different things.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with FastAPI, Supabase, or Railway.
- Experience writing automated browser tests (e.g., Playwright).
- Experience building with large language models / prompt design.
- Interest in finance or investing (it helps you understand what we are building).
