What is an Archon Developer?
An Archon Developer is a specialist who works with OpenText Archon, a platform used for data archiving, data retention, compliance, lifecycle management, and secure data extraction and migration.
Think of them as the custodians of an organization’s digital legacy — the professionals who ensure that old data is stored safely, compliantly, and efficiently so companies avoid issues with audits, regulations, or technology bloat.
They operate at the intersection of ETL engineering, compliance, data architecture, and archive modernization.
In simpler words:
They help organizations:
1. Identify what data should be archived.
Old data, inactive records, legacy app data — they select the right candidates.
2. Extract and migrate data.
Using Archon and ETL tools to move information into systems like OpenText InfoArchive.
3. Design data retention strategies.
Following laws like GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, and industry-specific retention mandates.
4. Build data pipelines and archiving jobs.
Using REST APIs, cloud platforms, and workflow automation.
5. Optimize storage and performance.
Ensuring archived data is cheap to store, fast to retrieve, and always compliant.
6. Create search screens and mapping.
Allowing business users to access archived records effectively.
7. Handle deployments and performance issues.
Acting as the troubleshooting point when archive systems require support.
