About the Role Agave (YC W22) is hiring a smart generalist to become an expert on the product and lead both sales demos and customer implementations. You'll guide customers through their journey, from technical sales support to hands-on onboarding, project management, and customer success. This is a chance to learn a complex B2B product in great depth, build long-term customer relationships, contribute to sales processes, work closely with engineers, and join a team as it scales rapidly. You will report directly to the co-founder/CEO. Why We're Hiring • Customer count grew 18x year over year, and the team is closing and onboarding 5-8 new customers per week. That pace can't be managed with current headcount. • A dedicated person in this role expands capacity to run more sales demos and onboard more customers faster, removing the constraint holding back aggressive growth goals this year. What You'll Do Customer Discovery: work with Sales to qualify opportunities as the technical expert • Lead discovery and product demos with prospects and guide them through how Agave works • Answer technical questions and position the product in the context of their systems • Qualify fit, identify blockers, and advise on implementation details Customer Solutions Engineer | Candidate Reference | Page 2 • Create customer-facing collateral (videos, product FAQs) and maintain demo materials for pre-sales Customer Onboarding: own onboardings end to end, alongside teammates • Lead customers from sales handoff to full implementation, working with them 1:1 as their primary point of contact • Understand their goals and configure the product to meet their specific needs • Train them on how to use Agave (integrate their data, perform common actions, handle edge cases) • Create and maintain docs for implementation best practices and FAQs • Build strong relationships and long-term loyalty; identify churn risks and upsell opportunities Project Management: manage many implementations at once • Create and share implementation plans, timelines, milestones, open issues, and remaining steps • Troubleshoot issues, working with product and engineering when new features are needed • Proactively identify and escalate implementation risks to the cofounders • Capture customer feedback and weak areas of the product to drive the roadmap • Work with external partners (sales partners, resellers, consultants) to align onboarding timelines Process Improvement: build tooling, templates, and automation that scale onboarding to hundreds of customers • Understand variations in current processes and the gaps that hinder onboarding • Create a standardized, scalable process and customer education materials (e.g. demo videos) • Work with product and engineering on features that improve onboarding • Define, own, and improve internal tracking and KPIs for onboarding timelines What We're Looking For • Experience: 3-7 years in a customer-facing role such as customer success, customer success engineer, integration or implementation manager/specialist, custom solutions, or ERP integrations, or in operations / business operations at a VC-backed startup • Startup background: 1+ years at a VC-backed startup (earlier stage the better) or an otherwise elite company, plus previous startup experience or explicit interest in joining an early-stage startup • Technical aptitude: You debug and troubleshoot methodically, or have the aptitude to learn technical concepts quickly • Communication: Confident speaker who can engage and navigate strong-willed customers and complex situations • Project management: Strong organization, process-oriented, able to manage many implementations (e.g. 30+) at once • Education: 4-year bachelor's degree from a U.S. or Canadian university Nice to Have • Hands-on experience demoing SaaS software to potential customers • Recent, hands-on experience with B2B SaaS implementations • Familiarity with the construction industry and accounting concepts Customer Solutions Engineer | Candidate Reference | Page 3 • Proficiency with SQL or JSON; a technical (e.g. CS) degree • Strong academic background (top U.S./Canada undergrad program) • Serious athlete / sports background Why This Role • Report directly to the CEO and work closely with the founders and engineers • Hypergrowth: 18x customer growth and a team scaling fast • Equity (0.01%-0.10%) and visa sponsorship for strong fits • Real ownership of the customer journey and the process that scales it Location: New York, San Francisco, South Bay Area, Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, Texas, Chicago, Washington DC, Denver, Florida, Minnesota, Sacramento Remote policy Candidates located within ~2 hours of San Francisco (e.g. San Jose, Sacramento) do not qualify for remote and will be asked to relocate Team Hiring 8-10 customer solutions engineers
