Company Overview:
- We are recruiting a Senior Electronics Design Engineer on behalf of our client, a fast-growing French startup specializing in the development and commercialization of an innovative space propulsion technology for nano- and microsatellites.
- This technology originates from more than 10 years of R&D conducted within a leading research laboratory and demonstrates exceptional performance and strong industrial potential.
- Following a successful first demonstration in orbit, the company is now entering a phase of industrialization and production ramp-up.
- The team currently consists of around 30 employees and operates in a highly technical, demanding, and innovative environment.
Role Summary:
- As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will actively contribute to the integration, assembly, and testing phases of our propulsion systems.
- You will ensure quality, traceability, and process optimization within a controlled environment while contributing to the technological innovation of our products.
- Working in a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative environment, you will be involved in ambitious projects and collaborate closely with the Avionics, Propulsion, and Thermal-Mechanical teams.
Electronics Design and Development:
- Design and route electronic boards (power electronics, onboard computers) in compliance with IPC Class III, ECSS, EMC, and thermal standards.
- Perform electrical, thermal, and EMC simulations to validate design performance and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements (space and industrial standards).
Testing and Characterization in Cleanroom Environment:
- Lead the testing and characterization of electronic boards in a cleanroom environment, in collaboration with propulsion teams.
- Participate in environmental test campaigns (vibration, thermal, etc.) and analyze results to improve system reliability.
- Provide technical support to test teams for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Industrialization and Collaboration with Partners:
- Oversee the industrialization of electronic boards, including PCB technology selection, potting and conformal coating processes, and validation of manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with suppliers to optimize costs, lead times, and quality, while ensuring component traceability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of assembly and production methods.
- Provide technical expertise in discussions with key partners (space agencies, customers, suppliers) on electronics-related topics.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree (Engineering degree / MSc) in Embedded Electronics or a related field.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in embedded electronics and embedded software development.
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in embedded electronics development including schematic design, PCB routing (Altium), testing, and characterization, ideally with experience in high-voltage electronics.
- Experience in component selection and electronic board design for harsh environments.
- Knowledge of thermal architecture and/or EMC.
- Knowledge of electronic board protection techniques such as resins, potting, and conformal coating is a plus.
- Knowledge of the space environment, including radiation effects and radiation-hardened PCBs, is a plus.
Industry Experience:
- Experience in one of the following sectors is preferred: aerospace, defense/military, automotive, or medical.
