About the Role: - We are seeking a high-energy, deeply meticulous Medical Billing Specialist to serve as the financial backbone of our mental health practice. - For over 23 years, our team of highly qualified licensed therapists has been dedicated to helping people achieve optimum emotional health. - This role is the operational engine that ensures our providers can focus on healing while you ensure the practice remains financially healthy. - In this position, you are not just following a checklist—you are taking full ownership of the revenue cycle. - You will serve as the strategic navigator between insurance companies, providers, and patients. - If you are a proactive professional who thrives on solving complex billing puzzles, managing electronic health records (EHR), and securing payments with precision, we want to meet you. Key Responsibilities: - Billing & Claims Management: Utilize the Therapy Notes electronic health records system to submit, process, and post insurance claims and copayments, including preparing paper claims when necessary. - Insurance Follow-Up: Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims while working directly with insurance companies to resolve billing issues and process appeals when needed. - Credentialing & Insurance Verification: Manage provider credentialing with MCOs, Medicaid, Medicare, and other payors, while conducting insurance verifications and communicating coverage details to clients. - Payment Reconciliation: Reconcile payments, maintain accurate billing records, upload insurance information to patient charts, and prepare bank deposits. - Patient & Provider Support: Assist clinicians and patients with billing-related questions while maintaining professional and customer-focused communication. - Reporting & Administration: Run reports from the EHR system, support administrative projects, and ensure all billing work is completed accurately and on time. - Compliance & Confidentiality: Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality while following internal processes and best practices. Requirements: - The "Billing Expert" Mindset: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing. - You understand the nuances of medical terminology and billing codes. - Technical Proficiency: Fluency in Microsoft Office and high "computer savviness." - Experience with Therapy Notes or similar EHR platforms is a significant advantage. - Communication Excellence: Exceptional verbal and written skills. - You can navigate delicate financial conversations with patients and firm negotiations with insurance adjusters. - Detail Obsession: You have a "keen eye" for data entry and reconciliation, ensuring all work is completed accurately and in a timely manner. - Professional Resilience: Capable of managing a high-volume workload with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Attributes: - Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail when handling billing data, payment reconciliation, and documentation. - Responsible & Self-Motivated: Able to manage workload independently and take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision. - Professional & Customer-Focused: Maintains a positive, organized, and service-oriented approach when assisting patients and team members. - Problem Solver: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience: - Prior experience working specifically with Counseling/Mental Health codes. - Experience managing credentialing for multiple providers across various payors. - History of working in a high-growth clinical environment with multiple office locations.
