🎯 About the role We’re looking for a senior Python backend developer with strong API experience and a genuine interest in AI-powered developer tools. In this role, you’ll build and optimize production-grade APIs and actively collaborate with an AI research team by testing models inside Cursor, reporting bugs, and shaping the next generation of coding assistants. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for developers who enjoy both building systems and experimenting with AI in real workflows. 🧠 What you’ll do - Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL APIs using Python. - Implement best practices around data validation, error handling, and API security. - Plan and execute database migrations, schema changes, and performance optimizations. - Test AI-powered coding models inside Cursor, documenting issues with logs, traces, and screenshots. - Participate in 4-day intensive testing bursts focused on real-world coding workflows. - Collaborate closely with AI researchers via Slack to discuss findings and propose improvements. - Submit structured post-burst surveys evaluating model performance and developer experience. ✅ Requirements - 5+ years of professional experience as a backend developer. - Strong expertise in Python. - Solid experience building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs. - Deep understanding of backend validation, error handling, and security. - Hands-on experience with database migrations and schema design. - Regular use of AI coding tools (Cursor experience is a strong plus). - Excellent written communication and structured bug/incident reporting skills. - Comfortable working in fast-paced, confidential, remote environments. ⭐ Nice to have (not required) - Open-source contributions (GitHub projects, stars, PRs). - Experience evaluating or designing experimental developer tools. - Strong interest in AI applied to software engineering.
