Requirements and responsibilities

My Security team at BioRender is hiring a Senior Application Security Engineer — and this one's different. We're looking for an engineer first. Someone who contributes production code directly to the codebase, not someone who lobs findings over the wall for others to fix. You'll ship the hardening yourself across our app (Node.js/React/Python) and infrastructure (Python, Terraform, AWS, Cloudflare). What makes this role stand out:You'll work AI-natively. Use AI coding assistants and agentic tooling to accelerate your own work — while helping secure the AI-powered features we're building (prompt injection, data leakage, over-scoped tool access… the threats that actually matter).Secure-by-design, automated. Own the Secure SDLC and CI/CD security integration (SAST/DAST/SCA/secrets), tuned for high signal and low noise. Keep the secure path the default path.Real ownership. Threat modeling, secure-by-design patterns for authN/authZ and API security, and the bug bounty program end to end — evaluate, reproduce, and close findings by shipping fixes. If you read code fluently, write code engineers respect, and get excited about building developer-friendly security systems — let's talk.
