Requirements and responsibilities
As a Staff Full Stack Engineer based in New York City, you will lead engineering for a core fintech platform, owning major features and architecture end-to-end while working directly with the Head of Engineering and CEO.
This backend-leaning role requires you to design and maintain full-stack features that power customer workflows, develop APIs for payment infrastructure, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using containerized services. You will refine the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines while raising the bar for code quality and engineering standards across the team.
We are looking for a technical leader comfortable setting direction for the product roadmap and mentoring engineers — a jack of all trades with a clear area of depth, capable of taking projects from idea to production in a fast-paced environment. Your work will directly impact the scalability and reliability of a modern operating system for the debt collection industry.

Responsibilities:
- Own major features and architecture end-to-end on the core platform.
- Design, build, and maintain full-stack features powering core customer workflows.
- Lead key components of the product roadmap from technical design through production deployment.
- Raise the bar on architecture, code quality, and engineering standards.
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs integrating with third-party systems and payment infrastructure.
- Build user-facing interfaces and internal tools.
- Refine SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
- Own and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, including containerized and orchestrated services.
- Contribute to high-leverage architectural decisions as the platform scales.
- Mentor other engineers and support production debugging, performance tuning, and reliability.
Requirements:
- 8+ years building production web applications (full-stack or backend-leaning).
- 5+ years professional Python experience and 5+ years with Django (DRF a plus).
- Solid experience with React and Redux.
- Strong SQL and PostgreSQL fundamentals.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and third-party integrations.
- Hands-on experience operating services on AWS (Terraform a plus).
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Celery, GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
- Track record debugging production issues and improving performance/reliability.
- Comfortable setting technical direction and leading roadmap components end-to-end.
- Strong ownership and clear communication; able to mentor teammates.
- Based in or near New York City for hybrid office attendance.
