🔵 Qualifications:
◽ Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
â—˝ Additional degree in Safety, Occupational Health or Environmental Sciences, Biology or other related discipline preferred but not required.
â—˝ More than ten years of experience in Process Engineering, Process Safety, or similar experience.
â—˝ More than five years of Project Management experience as Manager or Supervisor, in which highly effective supervisory skills and techniques are implemented to coach, develop, and retain employees.
â—˝ Some experience supporting HSEQ compliance in the chemical industry or other industrial manufacturing is a plus.
â—˝ Fertilizer manufacturing experience is a plus.
â—˝ OSHA Process Safety Management knowledge, skills, and practicable application experience.
·◽ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint).
🔵 Physical requirements:
â—˝ Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
â—˝ Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
â—˝ Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
â—˝ Industrial chemical plant environment.
â—˝ Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
â—˝ Confined space entry may be required.
â—˝ Wearing hearing protection within high level noise areas as required.
🔵 As the HSEQ Manager, you will:
â—˝ Process safety management with highly hazardous chemicals. Work with all departments to prevent or mitigate episodic chemical releases that could lead to an onsite and offsite impact and the surrounding community.
â—˝ Partner with business unit leadership to drive a strong HSEQ culture, and proper HSEQ behaviors.
â—˝ Ensure employee empowerment and engagement practice are in place.
◽ Develop safety policies and procedures to align with site leadership supporting the company’s goals, the operational needs, and achievement of HSEQ results.
â—˝ Manage Industrial Hygiene Program.
â—˝ Responsible for Management of Change (MOC) program and Incident Management system.
â—˝ Develop annual site HSEQ self-assessment.
â—˝ Initiate and ensure investigations of accidents and unsafe working conditions, compiling statistical data providing remedial actions to achieve effective accident prevention and avoidance of losses, and developing leading metrics.
â—˝ Keep abreast of OSHA and corporate safety regulations and standards applicable to the plant.
â—˝ Directly supervise and manage the employees in the HSEQ Department. Carry out management responsibilities, including training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; taking part in rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
â—˝ Develop and maintain environmental permit applications and associated plans including water quality, air quality and water supply permits for the Plant. Strong knowledge of Environmental Permitting, for Air, Waste, and Water.
â—˝ Develop or review and approve regulatory reports submitted to state and federal agencies.
â—˝ Develop and implement required policies and practices as required by Homeland Security.
â—˝ Correspond with state regulators and have extensive knowledge of state regulations and procedures.
â—˝ Communicate and coordinate all environmental testing with appropriate state agencies and state inspectors.
â—˝ Participate in any HSEQ compliance audits.
â—˝ All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
