Tech Owner (100% remote, LATAM)
Who we are
At Singular Agency, we build production software for US-based clients with remote teams across Latin America. Our engineering model is AI-native: we use AI agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) to build faster, but never at the expense of technical ownership — every line that ships is understood, reviewed, and backed.
The role
As Tech Owner, you are the technical owner of a portfolio of about four client projects. You are a senior full stack engineer who orchestrates AI coding agents to build, review, and deliver production software. You understand the client's business, define the technical solution, validate estimates, and are accountable for the technical health of your projects, from architecture to production. You're not another developer on the team: you decide how things get built and you guarantee they get built right.
Day to day:
• Hardest technical work: architecture, data models, integrations, and critical fixes — you use AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) and understand every line that ships.
• Technical health: keep your projects' health score at 75+ (architecture 50%, QA 30%, code 20%), with zero open critical findings; correct every audit finding assigned to your projects.
• Code review: serve as the required reviewer (CODEOWNERS) on your projects' repos; nobody approves their own PRs, and you reject changes the author cannot explain — including AI-generated code.
• Quality gates: enforce quality gates — code review, blocking CI integration tests, staging regression, test evidence in Runly, static analysis, and code audits. Everything reaching the client ships from main through the DEV → STG → UAT → Production flow (hotfixes included; no force pushes or CLI shortcuts).
• Estimates: validate every estimate (construction, review, integration, testing) before assigning work; break stories down and delegate with clear scope; challenge inflated estimates.
• Incidents: lead production incident response on your projects and run the postmortem.
• Mentorship: contribute to the monthly trustworthiness evaluation of your contributors and coach them on engineering practices, branching, and release rules.
• Client: join client sessions when technical context matters and warn early when a deadline or the quality bar is at risk.
What we're looking for (essential):
• Senior full stack versatility, not tied to a specific stack: able to understand complete systems (web, mobile, or agentic applications).
• Experience across all components of a system: architecture, data models, integrations, and deployment.
• Experience orchestrating AI coding agents to generate, review, and deliver production code, with the judgment to explain and justify every line delivered.
• Strong command of CI/CD, branching strategy, and the deployment flow (staging, production).
• Git/GitHub, Agile/Scrum methodologies, QA/Testing, and TDD.
• Managing multiple projects in parallel with clear delegation; anticipating technical risks (solutions that won't scale, technical debt).
• Leadership, critical thinking, assertive communication, problem resolution, and stress management.
• AI transformation mindset: focus on impact over activity.
Nice to have (not required):
• Cloud certifications (GCP or AWS), Scrum/agile (PSM I or equivalent), and secure software development (OWASP or similar).
• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field — equivalent hands-on experience is accepted.
Formal requirements:
• Experience: 6–10 years in software development, including technical leadership roles.
What we offer:
• Fully remote, permanent work.
• 100% LATAM team, Central America time zone (UTC-6, Monday to Friday).
• A portfolio of ~4 client projects with real technical autonomy: you decide the design, work distribution, and your support team.[19:22]• The ideal environment for engineers who want to build with AI without giving up technical rigor.
