Together we are a high-output team of ~55 employees based in New York City with a remote-friendly culture.Backed by $25M from Andreessen Horowitz and Scale Venture Partners, and prominent industry veterans: Matthew Prince (Co-Founder, Cloudflare), Calvin French Owen (Co-Founder, Segment), Ben and Moisey Uretsky (Co-Founders, DigitalOcean), Stephanie and Nat Friedman (CEO, Github), Julia Lipton, Brianne Kimmel and others.About the RoleAs a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work hands-on with Vantage’s most strategic and technically complex customers to ensure successful adoption and long-term value. This is a highly technical, customer-facing post-sales role focused on implementation, architecture, and problem-solving, rather than pure support or customer success.You’ll embed directly with customers during onboarding and expansion moments, helping design cloud cost allocation models, integrate complex data providers, and unblock technical challenges. You'll have a direct line to Product and Engineering, and your customer observations will shape what we build.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to customers, understands cloud infrastructure deeply, and wants to influence both customer outcomes and product direction.What You Will Do:Partner with customers to understand their cloud environments and cost-management goals, acting as a trusted technical advisor to customers’ engineering, FinOps, and finance stakeholdersDesign and implement scalable cost allocation and tagging strategies across complex environments, including multi-cloud and KubernetesSupport technical onboarding for complex accounts, partnering closely with Customer Success on advanced use casesDebug and resolve data ingestion, tagging, and reporting issues in collaboration with Support and EngineeringBuild custom solutions, queries, and workflows using Vantage’s APIs, exports, and integrations to unblock customer needsSurface recurring customer pain points and edge cases to Product and Engineering, contributing to internal tooling, documentation, and repeatable implementation patternsWhat We're Looking For:5+ years in a technical, customer-facing role (Solutions Architect, Forward Deployed Engineer, Technical Consultant, Sales Engineer, or similar)Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern data stacksExperience working with cost data, billing exports, usage metrics, or large datasetsComfortable writing SQL and/or Python for analysis, troubleshooting, or automationExcellent communicator who can explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersHigh ownership mindset and comfort operating in ambiguityA kind personBonus Points:Experience building and deploying to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.), and/or experience provisioning and updating services via TerraformExperience with FinOps, cloud billing, or cost allocation modelsFamiliarity with Kubernetes, Snowflake, Datadog, or similar tools Vantage integrates withPay & BenefitsThe estimated annual US compensation range for this role is $145,000 - $180,000 plus a competitive equity package. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits for this role may include: 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and education stipends.At this time, Vantage is only set up to employ in the United States
