• Review design specifications and understand what needs to be tested • Manually test new software to ensure it behaves both as designed and as a user would expect • Investigate and document software defects and reproduction steps • Methodically and systematically analyze software performance against the designer’s intentions • Identifying problems and suggesting improvements • Figuring out how to “break” the system in different and unique ways.
