Requirements and responsibilities

Tax Manager – Public Accounting (Confidential Client). Location: Remote or Hybrid (U.S.). Firm type: Growing CPA firm with a high-end client base. We are partnering with a fast-growing public accounting firm to hire an experienced Tax Manager to support complex tax engagements and help scale a high-quality tax practice. This role is hands-on and client-facing, suited for someone who values ownership in an entrepreneurial environment. What you’ll do: * Review and manage complex federal and multi-state tax returns, including 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1040, and trusts. * Lead tax planning, projections, and compliance for sophisticated clients. * Serve as a primary client contact on select engagements. * Review and mentor senior and staff accountants, including offshore support where applicable. * Oversee workflow, deadlines, and quality control across engagements. * Handle IRS and state notices, audits, and correspondence. * Support expansion into higher-end private client and family-office-style work. What they’re looking for: * CPA required. * More than 6 years of public accounting tax experience. * Strong partnership tax background. * Experience with complex, multi-entity structures. * Prior experience reviewing work and leading teams. * Comfort working in a growing, entrepreneurial firm environment.
