Role Overview
YIO is seeking a proactive and resourceful Business Development & Partnerships Associate (Contractor) to support outbound partnership research and initial outreach. This role will work closely with the CEO and select Board Members to identify, research, and initiate engagement with potential partners aligned with YIO’s global activities and regional presence.
The position is part-time, fully remote, and structured as an hourly contractor engagement. It offers meaningful exposure to a highly engaged international organisation, with clear opportunities for role expansion and career progression based on performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct structured research, including gathering inputs from community members, to identify potential partners aligned with YIO’s events, initiatives, and regional activities
• Build and maintain organised prospect lists and outreach pipelines
• Use AI tools and modern research techniques to identify relevant contacts, including from event attendee lists, conferences, and public sources
• Prepare background briefs, contact summaries, and outreach messaging for initial engagement alongside of senior team members
• Initiate outbound introductions via email, LinkedIn, and phone, including cold outreach and provide materials and support for members to make introductions
• Prepare pitch documents to share during meetings with potential sponsors
• Track outreach activity, responses, and follow-ups using shared systems or simple CRM tools
• Coordinate closely with the CEO and select Board Members on outreach priorities, messaging, and next steps
Skills & Experience
• Fluent English (written and spoken) — required
• Experience in business development, partnerships, project management, or a related commercial role
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, professional outreach
• Comfortable initiating conversations and making cold introductions
• Able to partner and collaborate effectively with different stakeholders, including members
• Highly organised, self-directed, and able to operate effectively in a remote environment
• Proficient with digital tools such as Google Workspace, LinkedIn, and CRM-style tracking systems
• Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate research, contact discovery, and workflow efficiency
