Responsibilities

About the Company A global technology company building a leading collaborative product development platform for retail. Its technology, enhanced with AI-driven capabilities, helps retailers and brands bring products to market faster, smarter, and more sustainably, while solving real challenges across global supply chains. What we’re looking for The Engineering Team Lead is a player-coach who splits time approximately 50% writing production code and 50% on planning, technical direction, and team development. This role leads a small fullstack engineering team within a distributed SaaS environment, shipping features end-to-end across backend and frontend systems. AI-native development is a core expectation, not a differentiator. The right candidate uses AI tools daily, has a clear point of view on what works and what doesn’t, and can pilot and standardize these practices across the team with measurable outcomes. Key Responsibilities AI-Native Development ● Use modern AI coding tools daily and maintain a clear, informed point of view on what works and what doesn’t, with concrete examples. ● Pilot and standardize AI and agentic workflows for code generation, review, QA automation, and documentation, with practical guardrails and measurable outcomes. ● Coach the team on effective AI-assisted development; track new models and patterns and integrate what’s useful. Technical Leadership&Architecture ● Design and ship fullstack features end-to-end: backend services, APIs, data schema, and frontend interfaces. ● Lead technical design for non-trivial systems: write design docs, evaluate tradeoffs, and define architecture for distributed, data-intensive components. ● Set the quality bar through high-signal code reviews, pairing, and your own pull requests. ● Coach engineers through clear expectations, direct feedback, 1:1s, and growth via stretch assignments and design reviews. Delivery&Planning ● Run planning, prioritization, estimation, and delivery against a clear roadmap; turn ambiguous requirements into structured, iterable plans. ● Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and monitoring practices; promote best practices in code quality and system design. Job Skills&Qualifications Required ● 7+ years of professional engineering experience, including 3+ years leading delivery as a team lead or tech lead (direct reports not required). ● Hands-on today: you still write production code regularly and intend to keep doing so. ● Strong fullstack capability: deep on one side, real working competence on the other. Backend: Java + PostgreSQL; Frontend: React. ● Strong system design skills: distributed systems, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, microservices, and data-intensive applications. ● Production operational experience: Docker, CI/CD, and observability. ● AI-native workflow: active daily use of AI coding tools; able to explain what you use, what you stopped using, and why, with examples. ● Test automation experience with JUnit, Playwright, or Cypress. ● Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable). ● Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams. ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to represent technical decisions clearly across teams. ● English Level: Fluent (C1/C2) is mandatory. Preferred ● Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis). ● Kubernetes experience is an advantage.
