Title: Senior Accounting Manager (Hands-On, No Direct Reports) Company: Multiply Advisors Location: Remote, based in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, or Uruguay) Reports to: CEO / Founder Employment type: Independent contractor Compensation: USD $2,500 – $3,500 per month, net (final offer based on experience and role fit) Work shift: 6 AM – 3 PM Pacific Time (about 9 AM – 6 PM in Colombia, or 11 AM – 8 PM in Brazil and Argentina, on standard time) About the role - There are a lot of words here, on purpose. - Our goal is a "no surprises" job outlook: what we know is true about the role, what we're looking for, and what a day looks like. - If you're just looking for a job, this isn't it. If you want a journey and meaningful work, read on. Who we are - Multiply Advisors is a technology-enabled tax and accounting firm that gives small business owners financial clarity and confidence. - We turn numbers into a vision and build high-trust relationships while we do it. - We're pretty fun, relatively smart, and somewhat sharp. This role - Hands-on, manager-level accounting. You do the work yourself at the level of an experienced accounting manager. - No people management. You won't manage anyone. - Our five accounting analysts already work at a high level. You'll handle complex files and work closely with the team and the founder. - The founder gets pulled into complex accounting issues and advisory projects that need layers of diligence. That's where you come in. - Your job is to make sure your work meets the Multiply standard of Certainty, Confidence, and Clarity before it reaches a client or the founder. - You come back with a well-reasoned answer and a recommendation, not "what do you want to do?" The four things this role owns - Own your work product: every deliverable meets the Multiply standard before it ships. - Handle complex accounting: multi-entity, equity and basis, revenue recognition, cleanups. - Be a trusted partner: share knowledge with analysts and Client Advisors. No people management. - Be the client-facing expert: sit in client meetings and lead monthly P&L reviews. What you'll do Technical accounting and quality - Give a final quality check to financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting for your files. - Resolve complex issues with a clear, documented point of view. - Bring the founder a few options, the tradeoffs, and a recommendation when needed. - Help build QC steps that keep accuracy consistent. Client delivery and advisory - Take client meetings directly. - Work on FP&A and forecasting as opportunities come up. - Lead monthly P&L review videos, turning numbers into a story the client can act on. - Add diligence to advisory projects so they're client-ready. - Partner with Client Advisors on budgets, forecasts, and tax-strategy inputs. Team collaboration - Share technical knowledge through working sessions, documented examples, and answers to questions. - Join daily syncs and weekly collaboration meetings. Financial reporting and close - Help close client books accurately and on time, by the 15th or the FS delivery date set for each client. - Review financial statements for accuracy and US GAAP compliance. - Run variance analysis and build custom reporting. Multiply Accounting Standards - Help document and refine our accounting playbook with the founder. - Keep it updated as best practices and regulations change. Light tax partnership (as interested) - Support internal tax checklists, schedules, and clean records. - The founder leads tax strategy. You don't need to be a tax expert, but tax curiosity is a real plus. Who you are - Curious: you dig in when the numbers don't align. - Ownership mindset: you own the outcome, not just the task. - Driven by precision: you take pride in meticulous work. - Problem-solver: gaps are a chance to build a better system. - Proactive: you ask, share your thinking, and move. - Adaptable: you flex to new tools and rules without loosening accuracy. - Collaborative: you partner tightly with Client Advisors and the firm. - Calm under pressure: you hold quality steady when the clock is loud. What you bring - 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time as an accounting manager or senior accountant. You're happy to keep doing the work hands-on. - 5+ years of hands-on US accounting experience with US-based clients or organizations. Non-negotiable. - Deep, current US GAAP knowledge and the judgment to apply it to messy, real-world situations. - A track record with complex accounting: multi-entity, equity/basis, cleanups. - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA strongly preferred. A local professional accounting license (such as CPC in Brazil or Contador Público elsewhere) or CMA/EA is a meaningful plus. - Fluency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Kick, and a tax tool like ProConnect. Comfort with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, SharePoint, ClickUp, Keeper, Reach Reporting, Vinyl, Missive, and Loom. - Fluent English, written and spoken, for a fully remote setting. Our team and clients work in English. - Comfortable on camera and in front of clients. - High ethics and professional integrity. Nice to have - Tax knowledge or US return preparation experience - CPA or equivalent certification - Master's in accounting or finance - Experience at a US firm or a fast-moving startup Four things that tell us you'll fit right in - You can handle a tough conversation and still leave the client smiling. - You treat every client file like it has your name on it. - You're a productivity nerd, ready to debate spreadsheets vs. the newest app. - You have strong opinions on asado vs. churrasco, or arepas vs. empanadas! Skills: US GAAP, complex accounting, multi-entity consolidation, equity and basis, financial statements, reconciliations, monthly close, variance analysis, FP&A, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Kick, ProConnect, client advisory, P&L review The work setup - Fully remote, based in South America. Full-time, working from home. - US business hours: 6 AM – 3 PM Pacific (about 9 AM – 6 PM in Colombia, or 11 AM – 8 PM in Brazil and Argentina, on standard time; one hour earlier during US summer time). - This is a daytime overlap with US clients and the team, so most advisory work happens during normal local business hours. - Tech: reliable internet (50–100 Mbps down, 10+ Mbps up) and your own computer. - Independent contractor. You handle your own registration and any tax or contribution obligations in your country (for example, MEI or PJ in Brazil, monotributo in Argentina, or RUT in Colombia). There are no statutory employee benefits or retirement contributions. Pay and perks - Salary (net via Wise): USD $2,500 – $3,500 per month (final offer based on experience and role fit) - 12 PTO days per year, accrued monthly - Food stipend: USD $25/month - Wellness stipend: USD $25/month - Health stipend: USD $35/month - Performance-based incentives or bonuses How to apply - Answer the pre-screening questions on this post. - Video is highly recommended. We'd love to meet you, not just read your resume. Written answers are welcome too. If you've read this far, that's a good sign. We'd love to hear from you. :)
