We are a high growth healthcare information technology company with a start-up 'vibe' but over 2,000 customers using our proven solutions.Bluesight is seeking an Engineering Manager (EM) for Shared Services to lead, define, plan, and execute initiatives across our Shared Services team. The EM role will drive the planning and execution of complex technical initiatives for our Shared Services team. This team develops and maintains APIs and applications that can be used across multiple Bluesight products to drive consistent user experiences, de-duplicate data coming into and going out of our systems, and interconnect Bluesight products. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS Cloud Infrastructure, secure software development lifecycles, cross-team dependencies and project management.This role will require both Engineering Manager responsibilities (people, process and technology management) and hands-on technical contribution. We expect hands-on coding to be about 20-40% of the job, with the remainder spent on people management and leadership. You'll both lead and actively contribute to our shared services codebase.Representative Duties and Responsibilities:Leverage your engineering skills in helping the teams architect and build features of the product approximately 20-40% of the time, working to unblock the team while contributing to feature development.Participate in design and code reviews across the team's projects.Manage and develop your team through hiring, coaching, and continuous improvement.Drive company, product, and team objectives.Establish standards of high quality work and acceptable coding standards.Manage and improve engineer support procedures.Partner with other engineering leaders and product managers to identify project dependencies and potential technical roadmap to address them.Own the architecture and evolution of shared services that integrate third-party systems, ensuring data is ingested, transformed, and made centrally available with reliability and scalability.Establish observability practices (monitoring, logging, alerting) for shared services to guarantee performance and uptime SLAs.Define modes of engagement with product development teams (collaboration, SLA-driven, enablement) so shared services provide the right level of support in each context.Define and enforce API design guidelines to ensure consistency, security, and ease of adoption across product development teams.Necessary Skills and Qualifications:History of developing software at an enterprise level, including data pipelinesRecent deep experience in Python FastAPI, Ruby on Rails, MySQL (or similar relational database) and AWS.Knowledge of HTTP and REST API principlesExemplification of our core values (Get Stuff Done, Join Forces, Honor the Customer, Redefine Possible, and Have Fun)Prior experience as a senior software engineer and team managerStrong written and analytical skillsStrong bias for action, documentation and educationAbility to work through ambiguity with open communication and autonomyHistory of architecting, designing, and developing scalable production applicationsSolid understanding of software engineering best practices (code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, etc.)Empathy with your coworkers and our customersExperience leading remote teams (we are a fully remote team that meets in person as needed a few times a year)Experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries, with a focus on building compliant and secure solutionsKnowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) is highly desirableSecurity and compliance control experience, especially within SOC2, HIPAA, or HITRUSTAWS, Hashicorp, or other industry certificationsWhat you'll get in this role:Opportunities to solve problems of scale, debt and security to redefine what's possible in medication intelligenceStrong voice in what we work on, how it works, and how it is builtRoom to be creative and choose your own pathTrust in your sense of ownershipDedicated budget for training and career developmentCoworkers who you'll learn from, who will push you and who are looking to learn from youSalary$180,000 - $200,000 a yearBluesight offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The pay range for this position is $180,000 - $200,000 and includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.ClosingThis position is a remote position and open to applicants in the continental United States.
