Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most.Dave is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Ledger & Reconciliation Platform team — the systems that ensure every dollar moving through Dave is correct, fully accounted for, and auditable end-to-end.The OpportunityYou’ll lead a team building Dave’s internal financial source of truth from the ground up. This is a greenfield effort to replace external systems with a proprietary ledger and reconciliation platform that supports all current and future products.This work sits at the intersection of distributed systems and real-world financial operations, where correctness is non-negotiable. You’ll partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Product, and Data to translate how money actually moves into systems that are deterministic, traceable, and built to stand up to audit.Not everything is fully defined — you’ll help shape the foundation.What You’ll Build & OwnLead and grow a small, high-leverage team building ledger systems and reconciliation pipelines from the ground upDefine architecture that prioritizes correctness, idempotency, and auditability over short-term convenienceDesign and evolve double-entry ledger models, transaction lifecycles, and reconciliation workflows across multiple productsBuild systems that reconcile internal state with external partners (banks, processors, networks) with high confidencePartner closely with Accounting, Finance, Product, and Data Engineering to encode financial rules and controls directly into system designEstablish engineering practices focused on data integrity, observability, and reliable recoveryThe ImpactYour team owns the integrity of Dave’s financial systems. The systems you build determine whether every transaction can be trusted, explained, and audited — supporting regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and member trust across all products.What We’re Looking ForExperience & Technical Foundation6+ years of software engineering experience1.5+ years of engineering management experienceExperience operating in environments where correctness is non-negotiable (e.g., payments, banking, lending, or financial infrastructure)Strong understanding of data correctness, transactional integrity, and consistency modelsExperience designing systems where accuracy and auditability are first-order concernsFamiliarity with distributed systems challenges (idempotency, ordering, failure recovery, eventual consistency)Experience partnering with Accounting, Finance, or similar stakeholders to translate domain requirements into technical systemsTrack record of building and developing high-performing teamsBonusHands-on experience with ledger systems, reconciliation infrastructure, or accounting platformsBackground in fintech or financial servicesExperience implementing double-entry accounting models in softwareExposure to audit, compliance, or financial reporting systemsFamiliarity with TypeScript (Node.js), MySQL, GCP; Python experience is a plusWhat Makes Someone Successful HereYou take responsibility for outcomes, not just deliverables.
