Requirements and responsibilities


The Role: - We are looking for a fully remote Chief Operating Officer to help take SHiFT from a strong founding concept to an operating company at a minimum of 25 hours per week. - We have a clear vision, a working model, and real momentum, including early partners, community interest, and growing investor attention. - We need someone who can build the operational structure to match that momentum. - This is a founding, equity-only role for someone who has actually built operational structure from the ground up before, not someone who has overseen operations once the systems were already in place. - You will work directly with our CEO to define our MVP, shape our go-to-market strategy, bring on the right people as we grow, and set the goals, timelines, and accountability that keep the team moving in the same direction. - This role exists so our CEO can stay focused on vision, fundraising, and the clinical integrity of the platform, while you own how the company actually runs and scales. - Our team spans multiple time zones, which means we sometimes meet outside of typical working hours, and the CEO prefers synchronous work sessions when possible. What You Will Own: - MVP definition: Working with the co-founders to define and refine the product as it moves from concept to a launch-ready offering. - Go-to-market strategy: Shaping how SHiFT brings the platform to partners, organizations, and individual members as we grow. - Team building: Bringing on the right people at the right time, and creating structure as we move from founding team to full company. - Goals and execution: Setting clear goals, rollout plans, and timelines, and keeping the team accountable to them. - Founder partnership: Operating as a true partner to the CEO, translating vision into a clear operating plan the team can actually execute against. What You Bring: - Real operational or startup-building experience, ideally early-stage, where you built structure rather than maintained it. - Background is flexible; proof of doing this before is not required. - Experience building a process, system, or function from the ground up, win or lose. - Comfort with ambiguity, energized by it: You do not need a fully scoped role to do good work. - Rigor and heart in equal measure: This is a mental health company, and how we operate should reflect what we sell. - Genuine alignment with SHiFT's mission: You can say why this matters to you, not just what you would bring. - Flexibility to work with our team’s schedules spanning multiple time zones. - Preference for synchronous online work. - Financial stability to carry out equity-only work, with real flexibility to give this the time it needs (minimum of 25 hours per week).
