## 🧠 Job Title: Founding Model Engineer – Core AI Team ### 📍 Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – 3+ days/week onsite) ### 🚀 About Us We're a fast-moving startup redefining how networks think, adapt, and repair themselves. Our mission is to build intelligent systems that autonomously model network states, predict faults, and drive real-time decisions. If you've trained LLMs from scratch, shipped full-stack ML systems, and thrive in high-ownership environments, we want you on our founding AI team. --- ### 🎯 What You’ll Do - Build and train end-to-end neural models for fault prediction, network state modeling, and autonomous repair. - Develop multi-modal architectures over structured networking data, enabling function-calling for real-time decisions. - Evaluate model performance across real-world hardware and virtualized environments. - Collaborate directly with founders to define modeling strategy, technical direction, and team culture. - Ship models into production networks and work closely with firmware and application teams. - Set the long-term vision for AI in modernizing the networking industry. --- ### 🧰 What We’re Looking For #### **Experience** - 3+ years of post-academic experience in model development. - Proven track record training LLMs or deep learning models from scratch. - Full-stack ML system experience — from data pipelines to deployment. - Startup experience as a founding engineer or co-founder is a major plus. #### **Education** - Degree in CS/ML/AI from a top-tier university or PhD (dropouts welcome if you’ve done serious industry work). #### **Hard Skills** - Expert-level Python and PyTorch skills. - Deep familiarity with modern deep learning frameworks. - Full lifecycle model development: data cleaning, training, evaluation, fine-tuning, and deployment. #### **Soft Skills** - Bias toward action and ownership. - Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments. - Collaborative, curious, and mission-driven. --- ### 🚫 Traits We Avoid - Over-reliance on LLM coding assistants. - Purely theoretical research backgrounds without production experience. - Consulting/contractor-only career paths. - Frequent job hopping (4+ roles in 4 years). --- ### 💡 Bonus Points - Experience with multi-modal modeling or function-calling architectures. - Prior work in networking, systems, or hardware-aware ML. - Contributions to open-source ML frameworks or tooling. --- Ready to build the future of intelligent networks?
