Requirements and responsibilities

You need the deep technical chops of a seasoned accountant, but the heart of a business coach. While 30-50% of your time will be spent rolling up your sleeves for complex balance sheet clean-ups, the rest is spent making those numbers mean something to the business owners. We are a technology-enabled tax, bookkeeping, and advisory firm. We work with around 100 US business owners, most of them under $2M in revenue right now, and we are growing up-market. To these owners, the business is not a spreadsheet. It is their life. It is how they feed their family, it is the thing they think about in the shower, it is the dream they bet everything on. Your job is to sit across from those people and make the numbers mean something to them. Responsibilities: - You will lead Financial Statement reviews. - You will walk owners through their forecasts and KPIs. - You will help them actually see their business instead of just receiving a P&L they do not fully understand. - You are part advisor, part translator, part coach. - The numbers are your instrument. The music is the owner's confidence in what they are building. - To be clear this role also will likely involve 30-50% internal time. Helping solve complex Balance sheet cleanups and supporting our internal team on any and all accounting related issues. If that lights you up, keep reading. If you would rather be heads-down in reconciliations all day, this is not your seat (and that is okay, we have other people who love that work). What you will own: - This is a key role. - You will report directly to the CEO and you will own the client advisory relationship layer end to end. - There is no middle manager between you and the work, which means a lot of autonomy and a lot of trust. - Quality of the work coming out of the Accounting Group Day to day, you will be: - Leading client onboarding conversations and setting the foundation for the relationship (this is where trust gets built, so we take it seriously). - Running Financial Statement review meetings that owners actually look forward to. - Walking clients through forecasts, KPIs, and the insights that sit underneath the numbers. - Being the steady, confident voice an owner calls when they are nervous about cash, payroll, or what comes next. - Driving relationships forward as our clients grow, and growing right alongside them. Standard for every meeting you run: - The owner walks away with certainty, confidence, and clarity about their own business. - That is the bar. - That is the whole job. Who you are: - You love the world of entrepreneurship. - You do not get lost in the numbers, you use the numbers to tell a story. - You understand that behind every balance sheet is a human being with a lot on the line, and you know how to hold that. - You can explain a cash flow statement to a bakery owner without a single piece of jargon, and you can do it in a way that makes them feel smart, not small. - You are the rare person who is genuinely strong on both sides: the technical accounting and the human connection. - Plenty of people have one. - You have both. - You are self-driven. - You do not need someone standing over your shoulder. - You are fueled by client outcomes, not by a manager's approval, because for stretches it will just be you and the work and the trust we have placed in you. What you need to have: - English at a 10 out of 10. Spoken and written. - You will be on camera with US business owners constantly, so this is non-negotiable. - 7+ years in accounting, finance, or advisory, with real client-facing time (not just back-office prep). - Genuine experience leading FS reviews, building or interpreting forecasts, and talking KPIs with decision-makers. - Fluency in QuickBooks Online and comfort in a modern, cloud-based, remote-first workflow. - Contador Público or stronger (US CPA exam, IFRS/GAAP training, or Big Four regional experience all stand out). - The ability to work Pacific time zone hours 3 days a week so our clients have strong calendar availability with you. The honest part: - We would rather tell you the truth up front than sell you a fantasy. - This role is demanding. - We are talking about 45 hours a week, and the work carries real emotional weight because you are holding people's livelihoods. - The pace is heavy. - The ownership is heavy. - The expectations are high. - We are telling you this because the right person reads that and leans in. - If the intensity and the ownership excite you, we should talk. - If they worry you, this probably is not the fit, and that is a perfectly fine answer.
