Requirements and responsibilities

About the roleClera is an AI-powered talent agent that connects 55,000+ tech professionals with VC-backed startups — not through job boards, but through intelligent, personalized outreach via email, iMessage, and WhatsApp. We've grown from $0 to over $1M ARR in six months, backed by 1984 Ventures, Deel Ventures, and angels from OpenAI, Sequoia, a16z, and LinkedIn.Our product is the agent itself — and the surfaces where talent and companies interact with it. This is a product design role, not a marketing one. What you'd work onDesign new flows for how candidates experience AI-driven job matching (onboarding, preference setting, opportunity review)Evolve the company-facing dashboard where startups manage pipeline, review talent, and track agent activityDefine interaction patterns for a product where the AI is the primary actor and the UI supports oversight, not manual inputTranslate complex data (match scores, engagement signals, funnel metrics) into interfaces that are clear without being dumbed downOccasionally shape net-new product concepts from zero — move fast and test ideas quicklyHow the work happensThis is flexible and project-based — not a fixed weekly retainer. Work is scoped together in chunks, typically with async briefs and feedback via Slack/Figma. You’ll work directly with the CTO and founding team. Some weeks might be 15+ hours during an intense sprint; others might be quiet. The team is looking for someone comfortable with that rhythm and who doesn’t need a standing meeting to stay aligned. What makes someone great at thisDesigned product UI/UX for software companies — ideally B2B SaaS, marketplaces, or tools with meaningful complexity; focus on making systems legible, not just making things prettyThinks in flows and states, considering empty states, error cases, loading, and edge casesCan work from a rough brief or conversation and produce work that moves the product forward (not pixel-perfect mockups that take two weeks)Fluent in Figma (bonus if you have opinions about design systems and component architecture)Has freelanced before and can manage your own time, ask the right questions early, and flag blockers without being chasedWhat we offerCompetitive project-based compensation (rate and scope discussed together)Real product ownership — work ships to tens of thousands of users, not a backlogA small, sharp team that doesn't do design-by-committeePotential to grow into a larger role as Clera scales
