Responsibilities

Role Summary (Executive Overview) We are looking for a hands-on System & Product QA Engineer who validates the Robotics Engine Platform as a complete, integrated product. This role focuses on end-to-end product quality, system behavior, usability, and release confidence across the full user journey. This role combines: • End-to-end product validation across UI, backend services, deployment flows, and robot states • Exploratory testing from the perspective of deployers, integrators, and fleet operators • UX and system feedback validation for complex robotics workflows • Python-based automation for integrated system scenarios • Linux-based installation, configuration, and update validation • Structured test cycle management in Jira / Xray • Collaboration with Product, Frontend, Backend, Robotics, DevOps, and QA teams Important: This is not a classical manual QA role and not a pure UI tester role. The candidate must understand the product as an integrated system and must be able to judge whether the platform behaves clearly, reliably, and intuitively for real users. What We Really Need (Core Candidate DNA) The ideal candidate brings four key dimensions: 1. Product QA Engineer First • Tests complete product journeys, not only isolated tickets or UI elements • Understands how users deploy, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot AMR systems • Thinks from the perspective of deployers, field engineers, fleet operators, and customer support users • Can identify product gaps where the system works technically but does not guide the user well • Balances structured test execution with exploratory thinking Critical: Candidates who only execute predefined test cases without questioning product behavior, user guidance, and edge cases are not the right fit. 2. UX / System Feedback Validator • Evaluates whether system states are clearly communicated in the UI • Validates that error messages are understandable, actionable, and relevant to the user context • Checks whether user permissions and capability boundaries are visible and understandable • Understands how operational users need to interpret warnings, blocked actions, robot faults, and fleet states • Can convert unclear product behavior into precise improvement feedback for Product and Engineering Must have: Ability to evaluate not only whether the feature works, but whether users can understand what happened, why it happened, and what to do next. 3. End-to-End System Thinker • Understands user journeys that span UI, backend services, deployment configuration, and robot state • Can reason about failures across multiple layers of the product • Uses logs, UI behavior, backend states, pipeline output, and user actions to identify root causes • Can define realistic test scenarios for deployment, monitoring, permissions, errors, and operational workflows • Comfortable testing both happy paths and failure paths Important: We need somebody who tests the product as customers experience it, not only as developers implement it. 4. Hands-on Automation & QA Builder • Writes Python scripts and automated system tests • Simulates system inputs and platform events • Validates backend states and end-to-end flows Documents reproducible findings in Jira • Organizes test cycles, exploratory charters, and regression coverage Strong expectation: ~70% hands-on testing, automation, investigation, and product validation. No go: Candidates who only want to coordinate QA activities or manually execute checklists without technical investigation. Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable) Product & System Testing • End-to-end product validation experience • Exploratory testing and scenario-based testing • Ability to test complex workflows across UI, backend, services, and system states • Strong bug reporting with clear reproduction steps, expected behavior, actual behavior, evidence, and impact • Experience validating permissions, roles, error states, status feedback, and operational workflows UX / UI Quality Validation • Strong sense for usability, clarity, and user guidance • Ability to evaluate whether UI feedback is actionable and understandable • Experience testing dashboards, monitoring views, configuration flows, and operational interfaces • Ability to identify confusing states, missing feedback, ambiguous wording, and poor recovery guidance • Understanding of how product behavior impacts adoption and customer success Python & Automation • Python proficiency for modular automated tests and system scripts • Ability to simulate inputs, trigger platform events, and validate backend states • Experience with automated regression checks • Basic API validation and system integration testing • Ability to turn recurring exploratory findings into repeatable automated tests Linux & Deployment Validation • Solid Linux / Ubuntu fundamentals • Command line usage, file systems, processes, logs, services, and configuration basics • Experience testing installation, configuration, and update processes • Ability to validate deployment experience for on-site integrators and field engineers Jira, Xray & CI/CD • Jira experience for detailed defect reporting and traceability • Xray, Zephyr, or comparable test management experience • Ability to organize exploratory charters, Test Sets, Test Executions, and release readiness evidence • Familiarity with reading GitHub Actions pipeline logs • Ability to link automated regression failures to reproducible product defects Nice-to-Have (Strong Differentiators) • Robotics, AMR, AGV, industrial automation, logistics, or warehouse software experience • General familiarity with mapping, localization, fleet management, robot deployment, and monitoring • Experience with dashboards, KPI monitoring, analytics views, and operational control boards • API testing experience • Playwright, Cypress, Robot Framework, pytest, or comparable automation frameworks • Docker basics • Kubernetes basics • ROS awareness • Log analysis and root cause investigation across distributed systems • Experience with customer-facing enterprise software • Experience with release validation in regulated, safety-conscious, or operationally critical environments What the Candidate Will Actually Do • Validate the Robotics Engine Platform as an integrated product • Test end-to-end user journeys from AMR setup and deployment to fleet monitoring and operational troubleshooting • Conduct exploratory testing from the perspective of deployers, integrators, and fleet operators • Validate whether UI messages, system states, permissions, and error feedback are clear and actionable • Write Python-based automated tests for complex system journeys • Validate installation, configuration, and update processes in Linux environments • Investigate system-level defects across UI, backend services, logs, configuration, and pipeline results • Document detailed findings in Jira and structure test evidence in Xray • Organize exploratory charters, regression Test Sets, and release readiness indicators • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to improve usability, reliability, and operational transparency Dealbreakers • No exploratory testing mindset • No experience testing complete product workflows • No Python or scripting capability • No Linux fundamentals • No Jira-based defect management discipline • No ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports • No understanding of user feedback, error states, and operational workflows • Pure manual tester profile without technical investigation capability • Pure UI tester who cannot reason across backend, deployment, and system states Reporting Line • Reports to the QA Team Lead • Works closely with Product Management, Frontend, Backend, Robotics, and Customer Delivery teams • Acts as a quality advocate for end-to-end customer workflows and user experience
