Senior Healthcare & Life Sciences Recruiter

About the Role
iMerit, an EXL company, is growing its Healthcare & Life Sciences business and is seeking a highly resourceful, hands-on recruiter to build and scale specialized talent pipelines across these sectors.
This role will focus on sourcing and engaging physicians, nurses, PhDs, clinical professionals, researchers, and other medical subject-matter experts for global AI and data-related projects. Because the available talent pool is highly specialized, success will require proactive sourcing, creative market development, sophisticated professional communication, and the ability to establish long-term partnerships with professional communities and institutions.
The ideal candidate is confident engaging senior medical and scientific professionals directly, including by phone, and can build credibility quickly with highly specialized audiences as well as liaising with iMerit’s executives and internal subject matter experts.
Key Responsibilities
Specialized Talent Acquisition
Source, engage, assess, and hire physicians, nurses, PhDs, researchers, clinical professionals, and other healthcare and life sciences experts.
Manage recruiting initiatives globally.
Develop tailored sourcing strategies based on specialty, geography, language, project requirements, and talent availability.
Conduct direct outreach through phone, email, LinkedIn, professional networks, and other targeted channels.
Build strong relationships with candidates and clearly communicate project scope, requirements, and value proposition.
Talent Pipeline Development
Build sustainable pipelines for recurring and future Life Sciences talent needs.
Identify new markets, sourcing channels, and talent communities where specialized professionals can be reached.
Develop partnerships with universities, medical schools, nursing programs, research institutions, professional associations, alumni networks, and healthcare communities.
Create referral strategies that leverage relationships within medical and scientific networks.
Maintain engagement with qualified professionals so they can be activated quickly as new projects arise.
Sourcing Strategy and Market Intelligence
Conduct talent-market research to assess supply, competition, compensation expectations, and availability across regions.
Recommend alternative markets, talent segments, or sourcing approaches when the initial candidate pool is limited.
Develop localized outreach and recruitment messaging for different professional audiences and geographies.
Monitor sourcing-channel performance and adjust strategy based on conversion, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Monitor recruitment marketing budgets and optimize channel spend.
Stakeholder Partnership
Partner closely with Talent Acquisition leadership, Operations, Project Management, and business stakeholders to understand workforce requirements.
Translate project demand into practical sourcing and recruiting plans.
Provide regular updates on pipeline health, market challenges, risks, and expected delivery timelines.
Advise stakeholders on realistic talent availability and sourcing strategies for highly specialized requirements.
Process and Reporting
Track candidate activity, funnel conversion, source effectiveness, time to fill, and hiring progress.
Maintain accurate candidate and recruiting data within the applicant tracking system.
Identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements to increase speed, candidate quality, and recruiting efficiency.
Support the development of scalable recruiting processes for the growing Life Sciences business.
Required Qualifications
Experience recruiting healthcare, life sciences, clinical, pharmaceutical, scientific, or other highly specialized professional talent.
Demonstrated success sourcing passive candidates through direct outreach and relationship-based recruiting.
Confidence in communicating by phone with physicians, PhDs, nurses, researchers, and other senior professionals.
Strong sourcing capabilities across LinkedIn, databases, professional associations, referrals, and niche communities.
Experience building talent pipelines in markets with limited candidate availability.
Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced global environment.
Data-driven approach to recruiting, including experience tracking pipeline and sourcing metrics.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience recruiting globally.
Existing relationships with medical associations, universities, research institutions, healthcare organizations, or professional communities.
Experience supporting AI, data, technology, clinical research, healthcare services, or specialized project-based hiring.
Experience recruiting independent professionals or subject-matter experts for flexible project-based opportunities.
Familiarity with global recruiting compliance and market-specific talent considerations.
Experience using applicant tracking systems, sourcing platforms, and recruiting analytics tools.
