Requirements and responsibilities


The Clinical Nurse Manager, in collaboration with the Director, assists in managing the patient care unit for administrative and clinical aspects to include organizing, developing, directing and assuring the delivery of cost-effective, quality patient care. Directs and oversees the process which ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance with established hospital, State, Federal, Joint Commission and ANA policies, procedures, regulations, ethics, and standards. Provides education to staff based on theoretical and clinical expertise. This position will have twenty-four hour accountability to ensure clinical resource and continuity of patient care. Responsibilities Serves as a clinical resource and role model/mentor in the delivery of patient care. Promotes the development of clinical and leadership skills of the assistant nurse managers and clinical personnel. Participates in the Performance Improvement process to improve patient outcomes. Assists in management of the patient care unit related to the administrative aspects of organizing, developing and directing. Demonstrates working knowledge of resource consumption. Maintains knowledge related to customer service and customer satisfaction. Provides in-services and staff development programs for patient care services staff. Assumes responsibility for coordination of new employee orientation and provides unit-specific orientation. Represents the Unit Director and specific unit during committee participation as assigned. Ensures compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures. Performs Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) responsibilities as directed during emergencies or disasters. Maintains knowledge of hospital emergency codes and appropriate response procedures. Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, related field, or equivalent competencies/job experience. Preferred Master's Degree in Nursing, Education, Management, or related field, or demonstrated equivalent competencies. Experience Two years of experience in a clinical-related specialty. One year of supervisory or management experience. Working knowledge of Quality Improvement processes. Working knowledge of Joint Commission standards. Required Certification/Licensure Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Florida. American Heart Association BLS Certification. ACLS Certification required for Critical Care Clinical Manager. Other Qualifications Managerial experience with the ability to relate to a large variety of individuals. National certification in area of specialty strongly preferred.
