Requirements and responsibilities


What you will be doing:Lead, design, develop, and maintain automated HIL test systems integrating avionics, FSW, GN&C, and RF payloads.Implement and maintain test scripts and control interfaces using Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB.Develop and execute "test-like-you-fly" scenarios to validate FSW–hardware interactions and fault management.Support and optimize test setups for prototype and flight configurations, including flat-sat and system-level environments.Participate in on-orbit checkout and testing of RF communication subsystems, including verification of telemetry, command links, and payload data processing and throughput.Capture, analyze, and document test data to assess performance trends, identify root causes, and improve test coverage.Maintain version-controlled test scripts, configurations, and documentation (e.g., Git).Collaborate across design, software, and AI&T teams to translate system requirements into detailed verification procedures.Drive continuous improvement of test efficiency, automation, and reliability across multiple spacecraft builds.What you bring to this role:5+ years of experience in spacecraft, aerospace, or high-reliability system test and integration.Proven experience developing and running HIL or flat-sat testbeds for flight software and avionics validation.Hands-on experience with on-orbit checkout and RF communication subsystem testing, including signal chain verification and link performance analysis.Proficiency in Python (required) and familiarity with LabVIEW or MATLAB for test automation.Solid understanding of avionics interfaces and RF fundamentals (telemetry/command systems, impedance matching, S-parameters, gain, noise figure, etc.).Familiarity with real-time simulation environments and embedded software environments.Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills across hardware–software boundaries.Experience with version control (Git), test data analysis, and structured documentation practices.Bonus points for the following:Bachelor of Science degree in EngineeringSystems thinker with a hands-on approach to test, integration, and operations.Detail-oriented, methodical, and comfortable working across hardware, software, and RF domains.Clear communicator who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments.Passionate about building robust, scalable test architectures that ensure mission success on the ground and in orbit.Job detailsThis is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office. The target base pay for this position is $130,000 - $190,000 annually. The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities.
