This shows up in how we design and apply our people systems every day.The RoleWe are hiring a HR Business Partner to partner directly with managers and team members while ensuring our most critical people processes run with consistency and integrity.This role sits at the intersection of manager coaching, employee relations, and process ownership, and is best suited for someone who is already supporting managers and navigating employee relations, and is looking to deepen into full HR Business Partner scope over time. This is a mid-level HRBP role with meaningful ownership and a strong growth path.You will:Support managers in navigating performance, feedback, and team dynamicsServe as a first point of contact for employee concerns and sensitive situationsOwn and run core people systems like performance cycles and engagement follow-throughWe are intentionally structured so that this role is not focused on HR operations. Our HR Operations team owns compensation, payroll, and benefits administration. This role partners closely with them, but is focused on:Coaching and advising managersSupporting employees through key moments and decisionsEnsuring policies are applied clearly, consistently, and fairlyAs a small to mid-sized organization (~115 employees, ~30 managers), this role requires someone who is equally comfortable coaching through complex situations and owning the follow-through that ensures work actually gets done.If the Head of People sets direction, this role ensures it is applied clearly, fairly, and consistently across the company.What You’ll DoManager Partnership and CoachingPartner directly with managers on performance conversations, feedback, and team effectivenessCoach managers through challenges including underperformance, team dynamics, and development planningHelp managers translate company expectations into clear, actionable guidance for their teamsSupport preparation for calibration and ensure alignment in how performance is assessedEmployee Relations and SupportServe as a first point of contact for employee concerns, questions, and early-stage grievancesNavigate sensitive situations with care, sound judgment, and clear documentationSupport conflict resolution and help address issues early before they escalatePartner with the Head of People on more complex or high-risk casesPerformance and Engagement SystemsDrive execution of performance review cyclesTrack progress, ensure completion, and maintain calibration documentationIdentify inconsistencies or risks and surface them early to leadersOwn engagement survey logistics and ensure follow-through on action plans so feedback leads to visible changeLeave, Accommodation, and Policy GuidanceServe as the primary consultative partner to managers and employees navigating leaves of absence, accommodations, and policy-related questions (FMLA, ADA, state programs)Provide clear guidance, set expectations, and support decision-making throughout these processesPartner closely with our HR Operations team, who owns benefits administration, payroll impacts, and documentation processingEnsure a consistent, compliant, and supportive experience while maintaining clarity on roles and responsibilitiesEscalate complex or high-risk situations as neededProcess Improvement and ExecutionIdentify patterns across teams (performance gaps, engagement risks, inconsistency in application)Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen clarity and fairnessOwn follow-through, tracking, and project management to ensure work is completed and visibleSupport administrative and operational needs that keep the People function running effectivelyWhat We’re Looking ForExperience2-4 years of experience in HR, People Operations, or HRBP rolesExperience directly supporting managers on performance and employee relationsExperience running or supporting core people processes (performance cycles, engagement surveys, or leave/LOA coordination)StrengthsStrong judgment in sensitive and ambiguous situationsAbility to coach managers with both candor and careHigh attention to detail with strong follow-throughAbility to influence without formal authority and hold others accountableMindsetYou believe clarity is a form of careYou value consistency and fairness across the system, not just individual casesYou are comfortable shifting between strategic thinking and hands-on executionYou are motivated by supporting both people and business outcomesBenefits- 80-120k compensation range, based on experience and location- Medical, dental, and vision coverage- Safe Harbor 401k matching- Flexible time off policy- Goalbook Family and Medical Leave- Goalbook Universal Basic Income- Annual Goalbook Profit Sharing- A truly motivated, passionate, and fun team.
