Mind Computing is seeking a fulltime, 100% remote Junior UI/UX Designer to join a team supporting a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) project. The ideal candidate will apply Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles to develop and enhance user-centric applications that prioritize usability, accessibility, and high availability.Responsibilities:Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into intuitive design solutions.Design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using tools such as Figma to communicate design intent.Translate complex workflows into user-friendly, accessible interfaces.Contribute to and maintain design systems, UI patterns, and documentation.Conduct user research, usability testing, and analysis to inform design decisions.Formulate research-driven questions to support indirect user discovery when direct access is limited.Synthesize research insights into actionable design improvements.Design applications in alignment with Section 508 accessibility standards and best practices.Serve as a resource for accessibility guidance across teams, including developers and testers.Support accessibility testing, audits, and remediation efforts.Translate accessibility requirements and findings into clear, actionable guidance.Work within Agile teams, incorporating iterative feedback from stakeholders and developers.Additional tasks as needed to support project success.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, HCI, or related field.Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a UI/UX Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing user-centered and accessible design work.Strong understanding of Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles.Demonstrated experience designing accessible interfaces and supporting Section 508 compliance.Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and translate user needs into effective design solutions.Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma.Experience working in Agile environments with iterative development cycles.Additional Qualifications:Familiarity with VA Digital Service guidelines and USWDS (U.S. Web Design System).Experience supporting federal or government projects (VA, DHA, HHS, etc.).Knowledge of design systems, design tokens, and scalable UI frameworks.Experience with additional tools such as Axure, Miro, Mural, Jira, or Confluence.Experience supporting accessibility audits, testing, or remediation efforts.Experience with SAFe/Agile.Ability to obtain government clearance.Benefits:Medical/Dental/VisionPTO + Federal Holidays  Corporate Laptop Training opportunities 401(k) with employer matchRemote work optionsNote: Selected candidates will be required to complete fingerprinting at a government facility and undergo a background check as part of the hiring process.Mind Computing is an equal opportunity employer.
