Requirements and responsibilities

Essential Job Functions/Requirements: AI Product Development & Technical Leadership: - Lead the technical execution of FreightPOP’s AI product initiatives and roadmap. - Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define and deliver AI-powered capabilities across the platform. - Architect and guide development of AI solutions including copilots, agents, optimization engines, and intelligent automation. - Ensure AI initiatives align with business priorities and deliver measurable value to customers. Solution Architecture & Platform Integration: - Define technical architecture and development standards for AI-powered capabilities. - Evaluate and select appropriate AI/ML tools, frameworks, vector databases, and supporting infrastructure. - Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency. - Guide integration of AI decisioning with FreightPOP’s core platform systems, including logistics workflows, databases, and operational services. Hands-on Development & Technical Oversight: - Act as a hands-on contributor while leading technical direction for AI initiatives. - Prototype and validate AI concepts before scaling into production-ready solutions. - Review implementations to ensure alignment with architectural guidance and engineering best practices. - Provide technical mentorship and direction to engineers contributing to AI initiatives. AI Innovation & Continuous Improvement: - Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies, tools, and methodologies. - Champion experimentation and innovation within the engineering organization. - Identify opportunities to improve FreightPOP’s platform through AI-driven automation, optimization, and intelligent decision support. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Agile Execution: - Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to deliver AI capabilities rapidly and effectively. - Support rapid iteration cycles typical of AI development. - Help guide development practices that balance experimentation speed with production reliability. Job Qualifications: Education: - STEM bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Experience: - 8+ years software development experience with SaaS technology. - 6+ years SDLC in an Agile / SCRUM environment. - 4+ years in a Senior or Lead engineering role. - Experience building or integrating AI-powered products or platforms. - Experience designing scalable distributed systems. - Logistics or supply chain experience a plus. Technology Environment: - FreightPOP’s platform is built on a modern SaaS architecture leveraging technologies including: - Backend: C#, .NET APIs and services. - Frontend: React (TypeScript-based UI). - Database: Microsoft SQL Server. - Cloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). - The AI Tech Lead will work within this environment while introducing and integrating modern AI technologies such as large language model APIs, AI agents, vector databases, and AI orchestration frameworks as part of FreightPOP’s evolving platform architecture. Skills & Expertise: - Passion for leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies. - Strong understanding of modern AI ecosystems (LLMs, MCPs, agents, embeddings, vector databases). - Experience building AI-powered software systems or integrating AI capabilities into applications. - Experience designing scalable SaaS architectures and distributed systems. - Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate AI solutions. - Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills. - Experience in evaluating and adopting new technologies. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Ability to collaborate across product, engineering, and leadership teams, including in distributed team environments. Other Abilities: - Strong curiosity and passion for AI innovation. - Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and evolving technical environments. - Self-driven problem solver capable of working with ambiguity and rapidly evolving requirements. - Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
