We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Financial Controller who thrives in a remote-first environment and takes pride in building scalable, well-documented, and audit-ready financial systems.
You will own our financial reporting, month-end close, and revenue recognition processes while partnering with leadership to provide strategic insights.
Responsibilities:
- Month-end and year-end reporting. You run the close, you own the output, and you are always looking for ways to tighten the timeline.
- Commission calculations and payouts. Making sure everything is accurate, on time, and running without friction.
- Managing individual contributors on the finance team. You set the bar, give feedback, and genuinely invest in developing the people around you.
- Building new management reporting for vertical SaaS metrics: ARR, MRR, churn, NRR, the works. Leadership should not have to ask for these numbers; they should have them.
- GAAP compliance, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and making sure everything is audit-ready before the auditors even show up.
- Evaluating and improving our finance systems and processes. If something is manual and fragile, you fix it. If a process does not exist yet, you build it and document it so it scales.
Working Hours:
- This is a full-time role, with 4 hours core overlap with US East Coast, on most days.
Requirements:
- 5-7 plus years of experience as a Financial Controller.
- A CPA or Chartered Accountant designation.
- Experience working for a US-based Business.
- SaaS Industry Experience.
- Proven Management Skills.
- Prior experience working as a controller; you have done this before and you are ready to do it again in a high-growth environment.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, especially ASC 606 and ASC 842.
- Experience with B2B SaaS accounting, subscription revenue, and deferred revenue.
- Ability to manage a month-end close from start to finish.
- Experience managing and developing direct reports.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or similar).
- Comfortable operating independently in a remote, async-first company.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- The ability to move quickly, make decisions with confidence, and stay comfortable when things are not perfectly defined yet.
Brownie Points For:
- Vertical SaaS experience; this is highly desired and will put you at the front of the line.
- Experience building a finance function from the ground up at a growth-stage company.
- Familiarity with SaaS billing systems like Stripe, Chargebee, or similar.
- Experience preparing board packages and investor materials.
- Background supporting SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks.
The Ideal Candidate:
- You are someone who moves with purpose and makes decisions with confidence. When you spot a problem, your instinct is to solve it, and then build the process around the fix so it does not come back.
- You are creative enough to build something from scratch and rigorous enough to make sure it holds up under scrutiny.
- You do not need someone checking in on you constantly. You take ownership of your work, communicate openly, and hold yourself to a high standard, not because someone is watching, but because that is just how you operate.
- You bring deep technical accounting knowledge, but you also know how to zoom out and help leadership understand what the numbers mean for the business.
- You are someone people enjoy working with, and you make the team around you better.
What is in it for you?
- Salary: $4,000-$5,000 per month.
- Full-time: Fully remote.
- 12 U.S. holidays (swappable), 10 vacation days, 5 sick days, 5 bereavement days.
- High ownership and autonomy; you are building the function, not inheriting someone else's playbook.
- Direct impact on company growth and strategic direction at a vertical SaaS leader.
Note:
- Please note that this is a gross salary and that you are responsible for any tax-related procedures in your country of residence. We kindly ask you to apply only if you are happy to work remotely as an independent contractor.
