Role Summary:
- This functional manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day Planning function at the Springville site in support of the Annual Operating Plan and associated performance objectives.
- The role leads material-flow processes and oversees master scheduling, parts planning, production planning, and production control.
- This manager will ensure compliance with customer and engineering requirements, maintain a safe working environment, develop and engage employees, and support the project execution plan to achieve on-time delivery.
- The position will also facilitate process and cultural transformation across the site.
- Travel is expected to be less than 20%.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the Planning team in support of Springville business objectives.
- Establish team communication and performance-management processes that provide daily visibility into performance, adherence to standard work, proactive problem-solving, coaching, and continuous improvement.
- Direct production planning, materials planning, capacity planning, and scheduling activities.
- Use sales forecasts and SIOP processes to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Develop and manage the facility’s Plan for Every Part, including transaction history, reorder strategies, and safety-stock requirements.
- Develop initiatives to improve inventory levels, on-time delivery, and past-due performance.
- Partner with Sales and Commercial Operations to forecast inventory, manage capacity, and maintain market lead times.
- Create and prioritize production schedules to optimize capacity, productivity, on-time delivery, and customer expectations.
- Maintain planning bills of materials within the ERP system.
- Use data analysis and KPIs to support planning and operational decisions.
- Monitor and manage obsolete and excess inventory.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration within the Materials organization and throughout the facility.
- Develop a culture of employee engagement, inclusion, accountability, and job satisfaction.
- Lead talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, employee development, and retention activities.
- Implement employee training and career-development programs.
- Evaluate team structure, staffing levels, and capabilities to support current and future operating plans.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business, or a related field.
- Ten years of planning leadership experience in an engineered manufacturing environment may be accepted in place of a degree for internal candidates.
- Strong root-cause problem-solving and analytical skills using DMAIC or a similar framework.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with MRP and ERP business systems.
- Strong written, verbal, and public-speaking skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, training, and team-development abilities.
- Ability to motivate teams and recognize employee contributions.
- High-level organization and record-keeping skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
- CPIM certification.
- CSCP certification.
- Power BI proficiency.
- Oracle proficiency.
- Experience in an engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
