We are looking for a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join our team and help build and maintain robust backend systems that power critical business operations. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where you'll work closely with product managers, QA, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable and elegant solutions.
This is a hybrid position based in San José, Costa Rica (2 days in-office, 3 days remote).
Salary: 2,700 USD to 3,300 USD
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop backend features using Node.js, JavaScript, and MSSQL.
- Design and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices using SOA principles.
- Participate in peer code reviews to maintain quality, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with product leadership, QA, and engineering teams to clarify and implement requirements.
- Deploy and manage services using Docker and AWS.
- Optimize system performance and resolve technical bottlenecks.
- Write secure, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of software backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency with Node.js and MSSQL.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and AWS cloud services.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, SOA, and microservices architecture.
- Expertise in GitHub workflows (branches, pull requests, code reviews).
- Advanced English skills (C1–C2 level).
