As we prepare to launch groundbreaking projects, we’re seeking a Robotics Engineer to lead technical excellence and drive the development of next-generation for satellite-based fluid transport missions.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to develop advanced robotic systems for satellite operations, including autonomous water transportation, robotic arms, and in-orbit servicing mechanisms. This role involves designing, simulating, and implementing robotic control systems, motion planning algorithms, and AI-driven autonomy for space applications. The ideal candidate has experience in robotics, mechatronics, embedded systems, and control algorithms. This position reports directly to the project technical lead.
Key Responsibilities
Robotic System Design & Development
Design and develop robotic mechanisms for satellite-based water transport, docking, and payload handling.
Implement kinematics, dynamics, and motion control algorithms for robotic subsystems.
Work with actuators, sensors, and control electronics for space-qualified robotic systems.
Autonomous Control & AI Integration
Develop autonomous navigation and motion planning algorithms for robotic arms and free-flying systems.
Implement computer vision and AI techniques for target recognition, obstacle avoidance, and docking procedures.
Optimize real-time control loops and feedback mechanisms for robotic stability in microgravity environments.
Embedded Systems & Software Development
Work with embedded controllers (ARM, FPGA, DSPs) for real-time robotic control.
Develop firmware and software for robotic subsystems using C++, ROS (Robot Operating System), and MATLAB/Simulink.
Ensure fault tolerance and redundancy for mission-critical robotic functions.
Simulation, Testing & Hardware Integration
Conduct robotic simulations in Gazebo, V-REP, or custom physics-based environments.
Perform hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing to validate robotic performance.
Work with space-rated materials, actuators, and sensing technologies for integration into the satellite platform.
Collaboration & Documentation
Collaborate with aerospace engineers, embedded software developers, and mission control teams to integrate robotics with satellite systems.
Generate technical documentation, design specifications, and test reports for robotic subsystems.
Contribute to mission planning and execution strategies involving robotic payloads.
What We're Looking For
Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years in robotics system design, control algorithms, or mechatronic development.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in C++, Python, MATLAB, ROS (Robot Operating System).
Control & Motion Planning: Experience with kinematics, dynamics, PID control, and model predictive control (MPC).
Embedded Systems: Experience with real-time firmware development (RTOS, Linux, VxWorks).
Simulation & Testing: Hands-on experience with Gazebo, OpenCV, MoveIt, or similar robotic simulation tools.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with robotic systems for space applications (satellite servicing, space robotics, autonomous docking, etc.).
Knowledge of microgravity dynamics and orbital mechanics affecting robotic operations in space.
Experience with AI/ML techniques for robotics, including deep learning-based visual processing.
Familiarity with radiation-hardened electronics and space-qualified robotic actuators.
