We need engineers who have strong technical convictions, communicate clearly, and thrive in a fast-moving environment where whiteboarding, debating, and shipping are the norm. What You'll Do • Build and own backend server applications and components that power Chariot's payment platform end to end, from design through production • Contribute to architecture decisions across APIs, backend systems, and infrastructure, helping define team standards and best practices • Collaborate directly with founders, product, and engineering through whiteboarding sessions and technical debates (strong opinions, loosely held) • Improve real-time monitoring and alerting to better understand user behavior and iterate on the product • Take on a wide range of projects across the platform. The team intentionally avoids siloed product lines, so you'll work across the full stack What We're Looking For • Experience: 2-10 years in backend engineering Software Engineer (Backend / Full Stack) | Candidate Reference | Page 2 • Company background: Experience at a reputable, growing company, preferably a VC-backed startup • Ownership: You have owned and built scalable backend systems end to end • Infrastructure: Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes • Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field • Mindset: Clear communicator with strong technical convictions who is comfortable debating and shipping quickly Nice to Have • Fintech or payments infrastructure experience • Proficiency in Go or Node.js • Experience with Terraform and AWS infrastructure Why This Role • Direct access to the founders and leadership, with no layers in between • Real autonomy and ownership of systems from architecture to production • Meaningful scale: infrastructure already moving billions of dollars in nonprofit payments • Competitive salary ($180K-$230K), equity, and support for visa transfers • Location: New York.
