I build best-in-industry technical teams, and together we make ideas real!
At my core, I love to create great new products, both hardware and software. I paid my way through business school writing expert-system software, and I have been creating new products ever since. I still visit the lab to try out ideas, yet I can be a force multiplier by succeeding through others. To that end, I've learned to lead technical teams, and I've discovered that I get as much energy leading others as I do creating the products themselves.
In pursuit of my technical craft, I have learned essentially every role that touches product development, including customer research, product and technology planning, design engineering, supply chain, IT, manufacturing, and service. In each of the six industries where I've worked, I rapidly go from being "a little over my tips" to being "the subject matter expert." Why? Because I love what I do, and I invest in myself to learn whatever new skills I need.
On the leadership front, I am able to share the lessons I've learned with my teams, showing others what is possible. As my LinkedIn recommendations show, I have a deep passion for innovation, I lead and mentor my teams to high performance, and I deliver high-impact results. I am particularly flattered at how easy it is to get people to work on my projects, even when it involves investing their own time.
In my spare time, I'll often be found in my woodworking shop (my specialty is guitar-making), playing with my Linux box, fixing up old BMWs, or planning my next scuba vacation.
