And one day coding came back into my life⦠There's a quote that says, "The journey of life is never a straight path. There will be ups and downs along the way. It's a matter of how we learn to overcome them". I identify with this quote, and I would add that zigzags are also a part of it. Today, this journey finds me with new skills which enable me to search for a job as a Full Stack Dev. My initial experience with coding occurred back in the mid-1980s, fresh out of the United States Marine Corps. I enrolled in college to study Computer Programming. It was a short-lived experience. Life went on and a few years later I decided to move back to Argentina. Shortly after, I landed my first job in the oil and gas industry while I enrolled in college to study Business Administration. For the last 25+ years, my journey in the oil and gas industry has always been upwards, taking on new responsibilities, new personal and professional challenges, adjusting to new working environments, situations, stakeholders and always driven to deliver the best results in the least amount of time. I'm proud to say that I've worked myself up the ladder, from an administrative position to serving as a production engineer in charge of more than 400 oil and gas wells without holding an engineering degree. The last few years I've been working as an independent consultant within the same industry providing technical advice and participating in hydrocarbon reserve audits. In my last auditing job, at the beginning of 2022, most of my work dealt with economic models built in MS Excel using Visual Basic macros. This is how coding came back into my life after I turned my back on it many years ago. Henry's Full Stack Web Developer bootcamp provided me sound programming skills in JavaScript, ReactJs, Redux, NodeJs, ExpressJs, Sequelize, SQL and PostgreSQL as well as the SCRUM methodology. It took almost 5 months or 800+ hours packed with intensity, hard work, long hours of studying, joys, frustrations, meeting people from all walks of life, deploying my first full stack web page, and working with complete strangers to build and deliver a full e-commerce site in less than a month. This marks the beginning of my coding life, and perhaps a turning point in my professional life. Who knows? I might be the next Steve Jobs! Ok, ok, that's a bit much. Want to learn more about me?
