I have decided to switch careers from sales into the cybersecurity industry in order to provide a better life for my family. Some of my strengths are being detail oriented, excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and problem solving. My values are being optimistic, collaborative, and having great ethics. Some of my hobbies involve enjoying quality time with my family watching movies and playing video games. I also enjoy having my own time reading and cooking new recipes. Throughout my work experiences I have learned to overcome adversity by asking questions, taking responsibility for my actions, learning from any mistakes, and staying focused on my goals. I plan on continuing to tackle adversity within my new career and learn what I can from my colleagues. The skills I can present to my new colleagues are adaptability, integrity, time management, and dependability. Being able to switch careers at this time in my life means alot to me. I want to show my daughters the importance of achieving our goals even though there are many obstacles and it may seem impossible. The reason I chose cybersecurity is because I was a victim of a hack into our Microsoft family plan and they bought $1000 worth of gift cards under our card information in less than 5 minutes. Thankfully I was receiving emails as it all happened, I was able to contact the XBox support through live chat and had everything resolved in less than 12 hours. I started to research the best ways to keep my information safe and learned the importance of multi factor authentication. That was the ignition to continue learning and decided to expand my knowledge in order to pursue a career in the cybersecurity industry.
